The magic wand experience in 'Visions of Magic' resonated with our culture of innovation. In CPS, we are always seeking for ways to improve our practices too.

The visit could inspire educational design. 1. Immersive themed experiences can offer valuable insights for educators looking to create more engaging learning environments.

2. Environmental storytelling - Using physical spaces to convey narrative and meaning, such as transforming classrooms into themed environments that connect to lesson content

3. Multi-sensory engagement - Incorporating visual, auditory, and tactile elements to deepen learning experiences and cater to different learning styles

4. Student agency and interaction - Creating opportunities for learners to make meaningful choices and actively participate rather than passively receive information

5. Emotional connection - Building learning experiences that tap into wonder, curiosity and personal meaning-making

Inspired by the Harry Potter exhibition's immersive environment, we can enhance our digital learning through SLS tools and educational technology. By designing interactive narratives with progressive content unveiling, personalised pathways, and collaborative virtual spaces, we can create more engaging learning experiences. The integration of multi-sensory elements and achievement systems can transform ordinary lessons into captivating educational journeys. Like the exhibition's magical atmosphere, we can craft technology-enhanced learning environments that spark imagination while promoting collaboration and personalised growth, making every learning moment as memorable as stepping into the wizarding world.

There are different modes of presentation in the Visions of Magic to engage the audience, likewise, as educators, we can also leverage different platforms to create an engaging student-centric experience. This will ignite our students' curiosity and make learning more purposeful.

2) Student-centeredness where the activity is centered around students' interests and abilities. Teachers must also be more proactive in coming out with activities that ignites students creativity.

3) Maybe we can adopt this magical theme in our learning oasis.

The experience created an environment to spark our interest to explore further. During lesson, we can create storyline and the atmosphere (using lightning and sound) so that students feel like they walked into a mystery place. Teachers can also design more interactive activity, for instance, role play, gallery walk and mission, to engage students.

   • By giving us an individual wand, it gives us teacher opportunities to experience the different journey ourselves and makes us eager to find out what's next. Just like how teachers strive to achieve this in the classroom.

Challenge

Inclusivity and embracing diversity: There were staff who were not familiar with Harry Potter yet they managed to participate actively and were engaged. Our students are similar in that they might be familiar or interested in our lessons. But how we design these lessons to maximise engagement, extend experiences and learning across diverse groups is key.

A team of planners might be able to produce better designed lessons to achieve these objectives as compared to one person doing this planning.

It is said that learning takes place when a pupil uses his/her 5 senses. The exhibition provided an immersive experience to a visitor, which makes it a memorable experience to the visitor.

a) Workplace culture & team practice

It's important to foster sense of community as we work towards the same goals. As we were grouped according to our house colours which is the same as Harry Potter's 4 houses, the teachers worked within the group to achieve common goals and overcome challenges.

b) Student engagement strategies

With limited space in RWS, they leverage and explore various affordances to promote visitors' engagement. How can we look beyond our existing learning spaces to further increase students' engagement? We need to breakthrough this mindset.

Unexpected challenges, hands-on experiments, or playful learning games can shift an ordinary moment into something extraordinary.

Magic happens when students feel heard and valued. Incorporate reflection time, journaling, or discussions where they can connect their learning to personal insights, emotions, or future aspirations.

The exhibition delivers an immersive experience which is similar how as teachers we create an immersive environment in school to enhance the learning of the students. The exhibition gives us an experience of how gamification, exploration and discovery can be used to enhance learning.

The experience reminded us of the. Importance of designing, engaging, meaningful and challenging tasks for the students. Although the exhibition was engaging, but after a while, the task became repetitive. This reminds us that we need to vary the task to make the learning engaging so that students will persist thought. Varying level of challenges for the students.

To be open to change of mindsets and go in depth in the learning of skills as this will not limit the possibilities of creating lesson plans/packages for our students.

Side note: For visitors who have not read the book nor watch the movie, we would not know what to watch out for, and it wasn't meaningful for us. As teachers, this can remind us that we need to put our pupils learning in context so that they can be excited and learn meaningfully.
