1. Quiet Spaces - My autistic son is very noise sensitive, he doesn't like being around lots of people, or in hectic environments, so quiet spaces are important for him. Life is getting louder, how can we identify and preserve quiet spaces? I could maybe create a map or wayfinding system to direct people to quiet spaces, or communicate to architects importance of including quiet spaces in new buildings.

2. Sepsis action - I have had sepsis twice. It's a frightening illness that can kill quickly and is often misdiagnosed. I was anxious I would get it again and die. My sister is an A&E nurse and so together we devised a simple plan to identify when to call the gp and when to go straight to A&E.

   1. Take accurate temperature with digital thermometer

   2. If 40 degrees its very serious

   3. Take paracetmol, wait 20 minutes.

   4. If temperature has not reduced even slightly, go directly to A&E.

   I find this plan very reassuring, and could share this knowledge. Possibly to students who have just left home and no longer have a carer (parent) with them.

3. Urban placemaking - there are several run down streets in my home town. I would love to redesign one to make it a more uplifting area.

   
   

4. Spectatorism - The growing trend for humans in the western world to WATCH rather than DO.

   This began with books, then television, now computers, mobile phones and the internet. We watch other people do things while we sit motionless... As a practitioner working in a visual industry, creating images for other humans to look at, I wonder to what extent am I responsible for spectatorism? Could I design to encourage participation instead? ( might explore this for my major project)

None of these are really short projects though! Any thoughts?

I already started on my self-initiated project - it will include some great herbal liquor, old Slavic mythology (eternal battle between Perun and Veles - god of sky and thunder vs. god of wealth, music, lying and... snakes) and premium bottle and label design as well as fully developed visual identity and language. In this moodboard You can see only glimpses of it. I am already in phase where I am close to choosing a brand name.
