The theme of the short story "The Necklace" is to appreciate what you have. In the exposition, the readers were told about how Mathilde spent her entire life fantasizing about what could be instead of what was, always greedy for more. In addition, when she gets a chance, she is too ashamed of her perceived poorness, and in a rush to get out without others noticing, loses a necklace, which causes her to fall farther into poverty than she was before.

The theme of the story, "The Necklace," is you shouldn't strive to be someone you're not as you will inevitably lose everything you had in the beginning. In the story, Loisel loses everything she ever had because she tried to fit in with the upperclassmen. If she hadn't insisted on wearing some sort of jewelry, she wouldn't have lost the necklace and have to pay off a loan for ten years.

In the story Madame Loisel suffered because she thought she needed every delicacy to be pretty and didn't appreciate what she already had. Also from the story Madame Loisel spent ten years paying off everything. She spent 10 years of hard work for just one day of happiness. You should just be grateful for what you already have, there will always be people lower or higher than you.

Paragraph 93, says, it took Madame Loisel ten years to pay back the debt that she had from buying a new necklace to replace the one she borrowed and lost from Madame Forestier. If Madame Loisel would have owned up to losing the necklace she would not have had to work for ten years to pay back the debt and she wouldn't look so old like it says in paragraph 94. In conclusion, the theme is to own up to your mistakes because, it will benefit you in the long run,

The message that the author tried to get out to us, is that the protagonist is extremely greedy. In paragraph 3, she imagined delicate food served in marvelous dishes, when some people probably could barely afford basic food, like bread. The protagonist has to pay off her debt, after whining about not being rich enough to fit in, she learned what life is like in a lower class. In paragraph 88, it states, "The Servant was dismissed, They Changed their flat; they took a garret under their roof. This shows that after no appreciating what she had, she wanted more, and suffered, by being "put in a lower class," because of her greedy attempts to be in a higher class.

This is because if she would've owned up to her mistakes she wouldn't have had to work for ten years, and she wouldn't look older than she is. According to paragraph 93 and 111 it took the Loisels ten years to pay off an imitation necklace, if she would've owned up to losing it she wouldn't have had to pay for a real one. She also wouldn't have to look like what she never wanted to look like (a ragged old worker). In paragraph 94 Madame Forestier told Mathilde (Madame Loisel) that she was unrecognizable and that she looks older than she looks. In, conclusion the theme is to own up to your mistakes because in the long run it can turn out to benefit you.

If you try hard to fill your life with fake success and happiness in things you aren't, you will never be truly happy. The text states that Madame Loisel felt that," She suffered endlessly, feeling herself born for every delicacy and luxury." (2) Showing that she longed for things she didn't have, and what she thought she deserved. Later in the story, she forgot about her real life, and for one night, paid the price of ten years farther from beauty than before. After the ten years, it states the Madame looked much different than the night of the party. "Her hair was badly done, her skirts awry, her hands were red. I believe that if she had just appreciated life, things wouldn't have turned out the way they did. If only she just hadn't pretended to be someone else.

Madame Loisel always thinks of how things would be if she was rich, and whilst thinking of those things, she forgets about the better things in life that last longer and are much more important, like her husband. In paragraph 1 it the test states: "She let herself be married off to a little clerk..." and throughout the story it is obvious that she wishes she was married to a rich person, and that she neglects her husband when she makes him spend the money he was saving up on another dress, and frequently ignores his wants in order to pursue her own.

The theme of the story is that you should be happy with what you have because, if you try and force yourself to be someone you're not, you'll loose what little you had in the first place. In the story, Madame Loisel tried to fit in with the higher ranking women by spending 4000 francs on a dress she could have you used for useful things. Because of this, she had to go into 10 years of debt to pay off a lost diamond necklace.

The theme of "The Necklace" is appreciate what you have and not dwell on what you don't. According to the second paragraph, she suffered endlessly, feeling herself born for every delicacy and luxury. She suffered from the poorness of her house, from its mean walls, worn chairs, and ugly curtains. According to paragraph 108, "...Well, it's paid for at last , and i'm glad indeed." At the end of her ten year journey to pay off the necklace she discovered that she was happy with what she had.

I think the theme of the short story "The Necklace" is to appreciate what you have while you have it. This is represented in the text when the first and second paragraph talks about Madame Louisel and how she had a nice house with nice things to sustain herself. However, she was not happy with it. Later on in the story, in paragraph 57, she lost an expensive necklace that she had borrowed, and had to spend ten years of her life, miserable, in debt. This showed her how good her life was before, and shows that you don't know how good things are until you lose them.

Be honest about what you did don't hide or run away from your problems. In the necklace, if she was honest they wouldn't have had to waste 40,000 francs on a replica. You need to discuss what happened to the other persons belongings before you lose 10 years of your life.
