In the case it states, "convict a citizen...for not submitting to imprisonment in a concentration camp, based on ancestry, and solely because of his ancestry, without evidence or inquiry concerning his loyalty and good disposition towards the United States" (Imai). This quote is saying how because of this case it is now unlawful to imprison an individual because of their ancestry and race. People of Japanese American decent were treated differently than everyone else in the nation because the United States was at war with Japan. The thousands of Japanese Americans that were citizens of America were taken out of their homes and away from their families because they were decedents of Japanese people. This causes a lot of racial tension in the community. This case led to the Civil Liberties Act of 1988 which, "granted reparations to Japanese Americans who were incarcerated during World War II" (Imai).
