The Elbphilharmonie, (built 2003 - 2016) by Herzog and de Meuron, was constructed on top of a 1960's warehouse. This is a large, glass opera house that overlooks the city of Hamburg. This marvel of the city was constructed 8 stories above the ancient harbor, placed on a peninsula in the river. This beautiful landmark has attracted many visitors to its acoustically sound concert halls, and continues to draw people from all over.

56 Leonard St (finished 2016) was designed by Herzog and de Meuron in Tribeca, NY. This building is a residential complex with apartments of varying sizes. All the apartments are different, and as you near the top, they get larger and lager. This building is a marvel of architecture because of its irregular shape and its ability to stand despite this unique shape
.

The "Bird's Nest" was built to house the ceremonies for the Beijing 2008 Olympics. The building was designed to have this shape for multiple reasons. One of these was that it was more structurally sound. Another reason was that it led to more space overall on the inside. For these and other reasons, the stadium gained its one of a kind shape, and will forever be remembered for it.

The Tate Modern, (constructed 2010 - 2016) was built to intertwine the regular aspects of a museum into an interactive activity. This was accomplished by the architects creating winding hallways that lead the visitors from one "station" to the next, and keep them interested in the museum. This has caused the Tate Modern to be one of the most visited museums in the world.

The de Young Museum, in San Francisco, California, (constructed 2000 - 2002) was built to highlight its diversity in art. Herzog and de Meuron designed it so that it has 3 "fingers" that overlap in parts. In the inner courtyards that separate the sections are filled with nature so to enhance the experience of the viewer. The distinct sections of the museum shows off the variety of the artwork, and the difference between the cultures.

This Miami museum was built 2010 - 2013, on the shore of Miami Beach. Due to the location of the museum, it required specific architectural designs to cope with flooding and water surges. Due to this, the building was built on a set of "stilts" where underneath, there is parking space and on top there is the museum. This resulted in the stunning building that stands today, with equally enticing pieces of art inside.
