One day, my sister had gone to the store when I couldn't go due to my busy schedule of exhausting work. When she came back, she had bought me a Winnie the Pooh plush which created a sense of happiness I almost exploded. I had created an obsession with Pooh ever since I had my son and it meant a lot to me considering she knew I would cherish it. I was also extremely surprised because she usually doesn't get me anything, even for Christmas. Her gratitude motivated me to become more kind to others and think about the smiles of others when receiving kindness, including hers. As well as motivating me to express in the same manner she did right back to her.

Creative side

I express my creative side by problem solving. I'm not surprised because I actually enjoy math and games relating to solving because it makes me feel a sense of peace without any worries that can make me feel scared. This creativity means you have to do a lot of thinking and figuring out and although it may seem like a hassle, it will boost your intelligence for the greater good. It is very important to me because it helps me complete my daily activities in my existing life. Problem solving influences my decisions in my math class and around each and every day. Whenever I encounter a problem, I can easily solve it with the right resources. This creativity also relates to my future career because I have to diagnose patients and by doing that, I have to do some problem solving based on our sessions or test results. I think that problem solving does help my needs and I am extremely grateful for the intelligence I have built surrounding that.

When I was in elementary school, I didn't know exactly what career I wanted to follow and I felt hopeless. I was worried I would not find a career that will make me proud of who I am. That is until my counselor had discussed with me about Health Careers Academy and how I should apply for it. I read all the pros to this school and I had felt my body at ease.I took the opportunity to enroll in the academy and have not had any regrets. In Health Careers Academy, they have certain advantages you can take which is what I ended up doing in less than a second. I took a class called Health Careers and it taught me about many jobs in the medical field in which I also learned about Mental Health careers. Another class I took was Mental Health Matters and it opened my eyes even more. That's when I knew I wanted to be a psychologist and give out a piece of me I never knew I had.

Significant challenge

The most difficult challenge I faced was when my academic grades dropped during my freshman year. I had not been experienced with high demanding classes and it was so stressful for me I almost gave up. I was not keeping track of my work because of my anxiety that had overcome me. I had also been anti-social and had never asked anyone for help. With these problems floating around me, I had almost changed schools. All because I thought I was not good enough and I was nothing like others at my school. Surely enough, I overcame this by expressing myself in a language I never knew I spoke and with a feeling of confidence. I began speaking more often and had left behind the fear I had of asking others for help. I also overcame this by checking my assignments each day and keeping up with due dates. This challenge affected me by becoming the person I am today. I am responsible, organized, and focused. I also ask my teachers or peers for help without a problem in which I am proud of myself for. I know my younger self would be proud of me too.

Leadership experience

A leadership experience I had was when my mom was very sick and could not do the things she normally did. It made me feel as if the only thing I could do is help out my family. My siblings don't cook and neither does my dad. They also hardly clean or even wash their plates which made me a bit frustrated. I decided to cook and have a clean area for them until my mom got better because I wanted her to know everything would be okay. I kept doing this for a week straight, until I felt like I had no more strength in me, and had given up. I was exhausted and had little energy to do anything. I felt as if my eyes were going to fall out. That is when I decided to put a set of new rules in the house. I demanded that they wash their own plates if they wanted me to continue making them dinner. It took a while for them to listen, until I actually stopped cooking for them and they had finally listened. Ever since then, there's hardly any dirty dishes in the sink that my mom has to wash and without feeling stressed and unsteady.

Stand out

What makes me stand out is the way I really think and understand. As well as my features such as my chocolate brown color, ethnicity, and perhaps my intense interests. I am a very serious and quiet person in which it can make a person question the kind of person I am. I am very open minded and I have ideas others do not. A thing that I have not shared would be that I collect toys/plushies that give me butterflies outside and inside my body. During my childhood, my family didn't make much money so I could never have the things other children had which impacted my feeling of sadness. Yet I was also happy knowing I had both my parents together with me. Over time, we had become middle class in which I began my extraordinary collection. I think I stand out by this because mostly others my age already left those things behind. In addition, other things make them happy such as makeup, cars, or devices, but for me, it would have to be the privilege of having the things I could not have before. That is what makes me truly stand out, my happiness.

To make my school a better place, I decided to be much kinder to people including those below my grade. I have also tutored many students and have given them resources to help them in their work. My reason for this gesture is because it brings me a sense of relief knowing I'm impacting people's lives in a positive way. I noticed that most upperclassmen bully the lower classmen and as someone who was a lower classmen, I know that they might feel scared or get anxiety. When I came to HCA, I was barely learning what being professional meant and how I should impact it in my life. That is why I think instead of judging them, we should guide them. We were once in their places so we know how bad of a struggle it was. Especially since entering high school is already a tornado created by anxiety.

My greatest skill would have to be helping others overcome their problems. It puts a smile on my face knowing I have this skill because I love speaking and helping others with life situations I have probably fought and overcame. I also enjoy learning new strategies to help others cope, heal, or even gain some advice that could impact their choices. That is why this skill makes me feel a tingle in my heart, because it applies to my dream career I have desired with wide open eyes. I could say this skill came both naturally knowing and working to develop it. I started developing it as I got older and I started working on it ever since high school. I want to become a psychologist so I know this skill will give me opportunities for the job I would sacrifice for and it will for sure fit in my schedule because psychologists make their own schedules.

An academic subject that inspires me would have to be math. Many people dislike math, but math actually brightens my light. I have furthered my interest in math by pursuing a psychology career I have looked up to for years. Most people don't know this, but you actually have to take math classes and do a lot of math in psychology and that is why I’m willing to fight off my procrastination and complete them efficiently. I know that when I come to the tall door of taking those courses/classes, I will be prepared. Math has helped me multiple times such as when I did community service and I had to manage the funds. This experience taught me how to perhaps be a cashier for a later part time job.
