Here bosom represents sadness, guilt, and sins, while heart is meant to represent the soul and conscious. This adds to the feeling that Lady MacBeth feels, which the readers were led to think that she did not feel. This is the first guilty side of Lady MacBeth the readers have seen, adding to their perspective.
