DACA was created to protect people who were brought to the US as children and do not have citizenship or legal residence status. This cartoon ties into the immigration policy it represents as it shows how the DACA program is constantly changing an once it was put in place the government began to scramble with how exactly it would work or if it would even stick around.

However, if the immigrants were apprehended prior to making it to US soil they would be sent back home. This cartoon shows how the US government did everything not to allow Cubans to get into America during this policy and tried to apprehend the immigrants rather than getting them to the US and helping them gain residency.

This new wave of immigration that was very different from the past waves of immigrants in America. However, the past immigrants saw this new wave of immigrants as lesser and inferior mainly because they were non-Protestant, either Roman-Catholic or Jewish. As the image shows, the ironic situation of the old wave of immigrants not accepting the new wave as they were once not accepted.
