The reason why I wanted to do Smash Bros. is of how the game is well-known for being the best fighter game around since the 1990’s. I recently found about Smash Bros. when my friend Irving Shockley introduced me to the game, I also saw two of the characters I have in my roster today. That is Ryu from the Street Fighter series and Little Mac from the “Punch Out!!” series. Smash is a really fun and competitive game when playing with friends or online. Its a nice and fun time consuming game to play if you’re bored.

Step 1: Learning the controls.

First, when you’re controlling your character you want to start off by getting a good grip on your game pad left control stick. Moving is simple and easy in-game itself. When moving, you would want to move your control stick right or left (depending on the situation you’re in). If you want to dodge a flying projectile coming towards you, press up or down. You can also press the L or R buttons to shield yourself and if holding one, press down to do a little dodge. If playing as a short character you should be fine.

Step 2: Using different moves.

Next, using your attacking moves. There are two types of attacking moves, special attacks and normal attacks. The A moves are your normal attacks, these can be either weak or strong, depending on the character that you’re playing. You can do a flurry attack by pressing A three times then hold it. Only certain characters can do this. Ariel moves can do a lot of damage and knock your opponent off the stage. Don’t forget charge attacks, you can just press and hold the left stick right, left, up, or down and they can become powerful moves. The B moves are strong attacks used when your opponent is at a high percentage of damage .

Step 3: Recovering Properly

Then, use your recovery moves when you’re falling off stage. These are most commonly used for attacks but they’re more used for edge grabbing. You can recover by pressing up B (special). You have to do it when you are near the end of the stage or barely under the stage. Once you grabbed the edge you can do these type of moves: dodge, jump, attack, and just climb up. Sometimes people go advance and recover with a few hits before knocking their opponent off the stage. Best recoveries used in smash are Fox and Falco’s Phantom moves, and Pit and Dark Pit’s up special which can take you far up.

Step 4: Keeping your opponent off stage.

Finally, keeping your opponent off the stage. This could be a little advanced but once you got the hang of it, you can be the best Smash Bros. player in your school. When keeping your opponent you want to give them a few attack moves before they give you a comeback. The first move is the meteor smash. This attack is used by just pressing down A, but keep in mind some other characters can do weak meteor smashes so don’t go for it. Other characters are unique like Falco’s phantom which sends you flying down, Mario’s forward aerial when a player is below him, and Lucas back aerial, this does a little back flip kick. If you’re not good at that then just do an aerial attack.

Researching moves and attacks were very simple to find but sometimes it couldn't be very helpful on how the moves work.
There can be many more ways to use different moves and combos on the Super Smash Bros. Wiki. Another hint on recovering is using wall jump. "Wall jumping is a sequence to where you can jump back onto stage with wall jumping".(SSBWIKI 1). Also you could find infomation on characters on the wiki as well. "Wario is a heavyweight character who can recover using his down speical when charged." (SSBWIKI 2). Items can be used as well, there is a list on the wiki. "Baseball bat is the strongest one hit K.O item in smash."
