         <description><![CDATA[<div>There environment was rocky not a lot of soft soil. Due to the environment  the economy relied on  more ship making fishing and  lumber. Due to these jobs the slaves worked right be side the ship builders ,fisher men and also the lumber jacks.So there was not as many slaves as there were in the south. The south had moist and wet soil and soft soil do to that the south depended on slaves to grow things like tabaco,cotton,and rice.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><br>"The Mayflower Compact was signed on board the Mayflower ship. 41 of the ship's passengers signed the Mayflower Compact.The Mayflower Compact was important because it was the first document to establish self-government in the New World. The Mayflower Compact was an early, successful attempt at government by the people and undoubtedly played a role in future colonists seeking permanent independence from British rule and shaping the nation that eventually became the United States of America."<br><br>the Mayflower compact was an agreement with the British and the Pilgrims when they were headed to  USA so they could have self-government.but when they got there it was kinda like the British didn't follow there promise that they made to the pilgrims.<br><br></div><div><br></div>]]></description>

The issues mentioned brought about the uprising known as Bacon's Rebellion. This Rebellion was the first of the new colonies.
