Academic Reflection

My academic background is in healthcare. I have trained in Orthopedic Technology as a Medical Assistant/Orthopedic Technician responsible for cast applications and removals, postoperative care, suture removal, bandages, and wound care. I had several family members who suffered from chronic asthma, so I wanted to learn more about the condition and how I could help them in a crisis. I enrolled in the respiratory therapy program offered at a local hospital. After completion of the program, I was assigned to the critical care unit, suctioning tracheas. I knew that was not an area I wanted to pursue further. I am currently working in the Radiology department as a Patient Access Specialist, which is more on the clerical side, I prefer working on the clinical side.

I chose GCU because of the Christian foundation.

My program of study is Public Health Care Professions.

I chose this program because I want to improve access to quality healthcare and resources in underserved communities.

Future Goals and Plans

I am committed to forming partnerships with local schools, senior centers, churches, and community leaders to create awareness about the significance of good nutrition and h a true healthy lifestyle choices. Through these collaborations, we will work to provide access to reliable resources that can assist individuals in making informed decisions about their health and well-being.

Course aligns with my field of study
