We have recently had class discussion about how different people or groups of people hold different values regarding the environment, and how these values influence how these people believe the land or environment should be used. For example, there has recently been a lot of dispute over the development of the Trans-Mountain Pipeline in Alberta and British Columbia. Many indigenous groups and environmental groups have protested the development of this pipeline, as it has many environmental concerns and will pass over traditional indigenous lands. The other side of this debate is put forward by the Canadian government and several oil companies, who wish to increase transportation of oil, and increase the economy. While both side have put forward many good points, there has been a long pause on development and use of this pipeline.
