I once got a chance to prepare my own short teaching presentation for the class. I got to volunteer about 2 weeks beforehand, and be in contact with the teacher to prepare my content. The atmosphere was very safe and fun, and gave me a chance to practice my presentation skills in a safe space.

The lecturer employed active learning and used different angled diagrams and went through each one to help us visualise structures. They also managed to involve us by getting us to label some collectively. They used their voice and passion to get us excited and engaged. It was easier to digest as it wasn't an overload of information in a passive context.

The lecturer effectively divided each of the 12 cranial nerves based on where they originate in the brainstem.

They then colour coded these nerves based on whether they were only motor (yellow), only sensory (blue) or mixed (green).

This technique really helped me and many other students in the unit & the online class to learn about something as complex as the cranial nerves in such a digestable manner.

To further assist this, they played a video from youtube that was only 6 mins long but still captured all the main aspects we needed to know.
