Learners are adults with both lived and educational experience. They have perspectives to share. When I invite learners to provide feedback on course content, delivery methods, language used, I get to learn both from and with them. I get to have my biases challenged. The downside might be I am not able to incorporate all of their feedback into future lessons and that might discourage or alienate them.

I like receiving feedback from students as it allows you to gauge your teachability skills. There is always something to learn. Getting student feedback can be difficult as you need to set up guidelines, create a safe space and articulating what kind of feedback can be time consuming.

I think that gathering student feedback is key. I want to ensure they are learning in a way that best meets their individual needs. Also, I am always learning and finding new ways to deliver course content. What works for one cohort, may not work with others so I try to check in with learners a few times a term. A downside might be that getting feedback after an assignment is returned might be more related to the mark the student got versus actual constructive feedback on teaching or the course.
