<title>LePeau has three recommendations, in the Watt edited book, to maintain collaboration between student and academic affairs. &quot;First, student and academic affair professionals should be included to develop institutional goals. Secondly, blur lines between student and academic affairs to create a functional partnership for multicultural differences. Thirdly, everyone needs to be involved to maintain momentum in changing race relations&quot; (187).</title>

<title>In the Watt edited book, Erkel summarizes the assumptions of Critical Race Theory, as presented by Delgado and Stefancic (1997): 1) Racism is systemic in nature (CRT looks at racism as an institution, not individual events). 2) Change does not seem favorable to the dominant group because racism benefits the dominate group. 3) Race relationship experiences are played out daily by interactions, behaviors, and values of both marginalized and dominant groups. 4) Storytelling is a method to raise awareness about race relations to the dominant group and to empower, or give voice, to marginalized individuals (156).</title>

<title>These statistics are showing the positive impact on African American men who receive an education. This demonstrates why Americans should fight for minorities to have a safe environment on college campuses. An unsafe college campus should not interfere with their goals of obtaining an education. </title>

<title>Coffee with a Cop allows police officers and members of the community to discuss problems in the community. Also, it provides the opportunity for members of the community to acknowledge police officers as human beings. Communities and college campuses have implemented the program to create an open dialogue. </title>

<title>During a town hall meeting, police and citizens of various races voice their concerns and opinions about police and racial tensions. While this is not on a college campus, this small segment demonstrates how voices can be heard and consciousness raised. Academic affairs and student affairs could work together to create forums to create a dialogue among students.</title>

<title>Author Daryl Davis gave a lecture at Grand Valley State University about his experience as an African American male interviewing the Klu Klux Klan members for his book. Forty five Klu Klux Klan members, including one Grand Master, renounced their Klu Klux Klan membership as a result of building dialogue. Mr. Davis&#39;s message is that &quot;ignorance breeds fear,&quot; and once he began learning about the members&#39; experiences, they indirectly learned about his experiences. That exchange of information created a productive dialogue with concrete and effective results. </title>

<title>Florida Gulf Coast University class is entitled &quot;White Racism.&quot; Campus police were stationed outside the classroom on the first day. The public needs awareness on what institutional racism is and why &quot;White Racism&quot; is not used to produce shock value, but is used because it accurately construes how institutional racism works in our country today.</title>

<title>The &quot;DONE&quot; column is the shortest column in this presentation. The group had a difficult time finding initiatives that demonstrated the goal of diversity being met regarding limiting violence towards minorities on college campuses. This exercise taught us that though there are dialogues and partnerships being formed, there is still much work to be done to build capacity for diversity and inclusion. </title>

<title>An idea that was communicated in the Watt reading was the idea of collaboration through the use of a digital portfolio system. By implementing this type of system, Academic Affairs can outline intercultural learning objectives that can connect students across the institution inside and outside of the classroom. For example, Penn State has begun utilizing digital portfolios for curricular and co-curricular activities including intercultural development (Johnson, G. and Rayman, J. R. (2007), e‐Portfolios: A collaboration between student affairs and faculty. New Directions for Student Services, 2007: 17-30. doi:10.1002/ss.246)</title>

<title>To understand how minorities play a role within the higher education community students can develop &quot;I am&quot; statements relating to their identity and share them within their curricular or cocurricular groups. By creating an open environment to share identities of all students either an academic affairs or student affairs group can tackle the importance of diversity through the lens of CRT.</title>
