*Story 2: Love and Loss (5‘30‘‘)

[상황] My second story is about love and loss. I was lucky — I found what I loved to do early in life. Woz and I started Apple in my parents’ garage when I was 20. We worked hard, and in 10 years Apple had grown from just the two of us in a garage into a $2 billion company with over 4000 employees.

[위기] We had just released our finest creation — the Macintosh — a year earlier, and I had just turned 30. And then I got fired. How can you get fired from a company you started? Well, as Apple grew we hired someone who I thought was very talented to run the company with me, and for the first year or so things went well. But then our visions of the future began to diverge and eventually we had a falling out. When we did, our Board of Directors sided with him. So at 30 I was out. And very publicly out. What had been the focus of my entire adult life was gone, and it was devastating. I really didn't know what to do for a few months. I felt that I had let the previous generation of entrepreneurs down — that I had dropped the baton as it was being passed to me. I met with David Packard and Bob Noyce and tried to apologize for screwing up so badly. I was a very public failure, and I even thought about running away from the valley. But something slowly began to dawn on me — I still loved what I did. The turn of events at Apple had not changed that one bit. I had been rejected, but I was still in love. And so I decided to start over.

[극복]I didn't see it then, but it turned out that getting fired from Apple was the best thing that could have ever happened to me. The heaviness of being successful was replaced by the lightness of being a beginner again, less sure about everything. It freed me to enter one of the most creative periods of my life. During the next five years, I started a company named NeXT, another company named Pixar, and fell in love with an amazing woman who would become my wife. Pixar went on to create the world’s first computer animated feature film(장편 영화), Toy Story, and is now the most successful animation studio in the world. In a remarkable turn of events, Apple bought NeXT, I returned to Apple, and the technology we developed at NeXT is at the heart of Apple's current renaissance. And Laurene and I have a wonderful family together. I'm pretty sure none of this would have happened if I hadn't been fired from Apple. It was awful tasting medicine, but I guess the patient needed it.

[교훈]Sometimes life hits you in the head with a brick. Don't lose faith. I'm convinced that the only thing that kept me going was that I loved what I did. You've got to find what you love. And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don't settle.

Favorite music can also calm your mood, but it can also distract you and disrupt your study of language-focused subjects.

Learning effects can also vary depending on music. According to an experiment conducted by Cardiff Metropolitan University in the U.K., 61% of the respondents answered correctly in a quiet environment, 55% of the respondents without lyrics, 38% of the respondents with unfavorable lyrics, and 37% of the respondents with preferred lyrics. The group who studied without music performed the best, and music with lyrics negatively affected learning.

In addition, the learning effect may vary depending on personality. According to the recent Baruch New York City University and Rutgers University in the United States, a loud personality can lower the performance effect of music in any situations and a calm personality can lower the performance effect in difficult cognitive performance, but in most other situations, it has increased the performance effect.

The learning effect of music varies from person to person. The day before the test is not a time to build knowledge, but a time to organize knowledge.Instead of increasing the amount of study than usual, it is recommended to study while resting for about 4-6 hours to maintain the best condition.

Hello, today I’d like to explain to you how taking medication on an empty stomach can burden the liver. Before I begin, do you happen to know about the functions of the liver?

Generally, when we eat food, it travels through the mouth and esophagus to the liver, where it is broken down for digestion as part of the digestive system. For those who want a more detailed explanation, I’ll now go into depth about the liver.

First, the liver is located in the abdomen specifically, in the upper right quadrant, just below the diaphragm. It is the largest and most complex organ in the body. The liver is divided into four lobes: the right lobe, left lobe, quadrate lobe, and caudate lobe. Now that we know its location, let’s discuss its functions. The liver performs detoxification, blood circulation management, metabolic control, and more. Today, I’ll focus on explaining these key roles.

I’ll explain two major metabolic functions: Carbohydrate Metabolism: The liver converts glycogen into glucose when needed to maintain blood sugar levels and generate bioenergy.

Protein Metabolism: The liver produces albumin and clotting factors, stores nutrients (such as carbohydrates, proteins, fats, and vitamins) absorbed through the intestines, and produces bile acids to help digest fats, which are then released into the duodenum.

The liver normally holds about 450ml of blood (almost 10% of the body’s total blood volume) in the hepatic veins and portal sinusoids. When pressure in the right atrium increases, the liver expands and can store an additional 0.5~1L of blood, releasing it when necessary.

The liver metabolizes and breaks down various drugs, playing a key role in detoxifying the body. However, many people don’t realize this and sometimes take medication on an empty stomach without thinking. Have you ever experienced stomach pain after doing so? I have. Why does this happen?

Many drugs contain toxins. If the liver cannot process them properly, the drugs can turn into toxic substances, damaging liver cells and causing inflammation or disease. The chemical transformation of toxins is primarily driven by an enzyme called cytochrome P450 (CYP) in liver cells. This enzyme oxidizes or reduces toxins (changing their chemical structure), making them more reactive and sometimes even more toxic before converting them into water soluble forms for excretion through urine (kidneys) or bile (liver).

Overconsumption of medications, including health supplements, can lead to the accumulation of toxic metabolites like NAPQI, which damages the liver. Even common painkillers like Tylenol (acetaminophen), which people take for headaches, contain toxins. If taken on an empty stomach, instead of relieving your headache, it may cause stomach pain instead.

Final Takeaway

The key lesson today is: Never take medication on an empty stomach. There are no benefits only harmful effects. Thank you!

Would you like any modifications or additional details in the English version?

Did you know that song lyrics often contain hidden meanings? In fact, people have long tried to express meanings indirectly through music. This tradition has been passed down to the present day in styles such as the Chungcheongdo way and the Kyoto way of speaking.

To understand these styles, it’s important to explore the historical and cultural backgrounds behind them. Both were shaped by factors like social status and religion. Chungcheongdo has been deeply influenced by Confucianism for a long time, while Kyoto was Japan’s capital for over a thousand years.

The development of these indirect ways of speaking has also been reflected in song lyrics. Thanks to this, I now feel I can better appreciate songs with meaningful lyrics, like Lee Sun Hee’s Destiny and IU’s My Sea.

Then let's look at the pros and cons of running. First, it helps reduce disease activity, strengthen endurance, build patience, confidence, and diet. The disadvantages are the risk of injury, environmental impact, and space constraints Lastly, I recommend running. I recommend it to you because if you are stressed or not, you can develop both mental health and physical strength by running consistently. Thank you for listening to me.

Hello everyone.

Today, I want to talk about something very interesting in physics. It’s called the wave-particle duality of light.

Let me start with a question:
Is light a wave, or a particle?

For a long time, scientists thought light was a wave. Why?
Because light shows wave behaviors, like reflection, refraction, interference, and diffraction.

In 1801, a scientist named Thomas Young did a famous experiment called the double-slit experiment.
He shined light through two small slits.
On the screen, he saw bright and dark patterns we call this an interference pattern.
This pattern happens when waves overlap. So, this showed that light acts like a wave.

But later, in the early 1900s, something strange happened.
A scientist named Albert Einstein studied the photoelectric effect.
When light hits metal, sometimes it knocks out electrons.
Einstein said this happens because light also behaves like tiny particles, called photons.
Each photon carries a small amount of energy.

So, is light a wave or a particle?

The answer is… both. Light behaves like a wave in some situations, and like a particle in others.
We call this wave-particle duality.

This idea changed science a lot.
It helped us create new technology like lasers, solar panels, and semiconductors.

In short, light is not just a simple thing. It’s both a wave and a particle and that’s what makes it so amazing.

Are you interested in baseball but the rules are difficult?

Let me help you. Baseball is played by many rules.

There are many different positions in baseball.

Fielders are divided into infielders and outfielders based on the square-shaped infield.

The infielders are third baseman, shortstop, second baseman, and first baseman in order from left, and the shortstop is positioned between third and second base, and the second baseman is positioned between second and first base. Outfielders are leftfielder, centerfielder, and right fielder from the left. A pitcher is a player who throws a ball home from the center of the infield and is called the flower of baseball.

A catcher is a player who catches a pitcher's ball at home and plays the most important role in baseball.

Have you ever heard of the terms ball or strike in baseball?

The ball and strike are determined by the imaginary square above the home.

If the pitcher passes the ball through the square or the batter swings the bat, it's a strike, and if it doesn't pass the ball through the square, it's a ball.

If there are three strikes, there is one out, and if there are three outs, the offense and defense is replaced.

How will the batter get on base?

There are ways to get on base: hits, home runs, base on balls and hit by pitch. A hit is when a batter hits a ball and the ball hits the ground, and the batter arrives at the base faster than the ball. A home run is also a type of hit, which means a hit by a batter crosses the fence of the stadium. Depending on the number of runners on the base, the score earned by the home run will vary. The Base on balls means four balls, and the hit by pitch refers to when a batter is hit by a pitcher's pitch. At this time, the batter can go to first base.

Baseball looks difficult, but if you know the rules, you can enjoy watching it.

I hope this presentation will make you more interested in baseball.

There is a lot of music that helps us fall asleep even if we go to YouTube right away. Does this work? From the bottom line, it depends on the type of music. Fast-tempo music increases energy and stimulates excitement, and slow-tempo music helps you sleep. For this reason, listening to slow-tempo music helps you sleep well. And in the case of fast-tempo music, if you continue to listen to music while sleeping, you may be more likely to suffer from sleep disorders. If you keep listening to a certain song, you may not be able to sleep well because the song keeps coming up in your head. If you are a person who does not sleep well and want to sleep well with the help of music, it will be of great help if you sleep while listening to slow-tempo music rather than fast-tempo music.

Today, I’d like to start with a situation that many of us might find familiar. Imagine you’ve been in a relationship for a long time. These days, you’re not happy anymore—you argue often, and the emotional connection has faded.
What would you do in this situation?

Even though you know the relationship is no longer good for either of you, you might still hesitate to end it. Why? Because you’ve already invested so much time, money, and emotion. It feels like all of that would go to waste if you walk away now.

This is a classic example of what economics calls the “sunk cost fallacy.”
A sunk cost is something you've already spent—whether it's money, time, or effort—and you can't get it back. Economically speaking, we are taught that sunk costs should not influence future decisions.
Why? Because they’re gone. We can’t change the past. What we can do is make a better choice for our present and future.

But in reality, we don’t always think rationally. Our emotions take over, and we hold on to things just because we’ve already spent so much on them—even if they’re no longer good for us.

There was even a Korean article that talked about this. It explained that many people stay in unhappy relationships because they feel they’ve come too far to quit. The longer the relationship, the harder it becomes to let go. The emotional and psychological barriers grow over time.

As a result, we often waste even more time and energy—just because we couldn’t let go sooner.

Personally, I believe that the time ahead of us is more valuable than the time that’s already gone.
And I hope we can all learn to see that giving up isn’t always a failure—sometimes, it’s the smartest choice for a better, happier future.

Thank you.

We live with artificial intelligence (AI) technology. From smartphone voice assistants to recommendation algorithms to self-driving cars, AI is everywhere in our daily lives, and we can see that these technologies will be much more advanced in the future and have a deeper impact on our lives. In this article, let's look at the difference between current AI technology and future technologies, and see how changes will affect the world of work today.
First, let's first look at technologies that will happen in the future.

The current AI technology is developing around functions specialized in specific areas such as voice recognition, image analysis, and autonomous driving. However, it is predicted that 'Universal Artificial Intelligence (AGI)', which enables more comprehensive and creative thinking, will emerge in the future. This technology will be used beyond simple data analysis to have a level of thinking, learning, and problem-solving skills similar to that of humans, and will be used as a partner to cooperate with people in various fields such as education, medical care, and art. It is also expected that emotional artificial intelligence, which can understand and empathize with emotions, will be developed, attracting attention as a technology that can share deeper communication with people.
While advances in AI technology can replace some jobs, new jobs are born. For example, AI is likely to be replaced by data input sources or simple accounting jobs that perform repetitive and standardized tasks, while new occupations such as AI engineers designing and training AI, AI ethics experts, and communication designers coordinating human-AI cooperation will gradually increase. Eventually, the ability to understand and utilize technology will be an important competitive edge in the future, and jobs that require human creativity and sensitivity will be highly valued.
As such, AI technology is constantly developing, and it will bring about major changes in our lives and society in the future. In the future, artificial intelligence with much more sophisticated and human-like abilities will emerge, and there will be jobs that disappear accordingly, but new opportunities will also emerge. The important thing is that rather than being afraid of these changes, it would be better to develop the ability to coexist and cooperate with AI. I think we can create a better future by understanding and utilizing AI correctly.

There may have been times when you questioned your math skills while solving problems. From now on, I will introduce ways to improve your mathematical abilities. This involves understanding three key areas: first, problem-solving strategies; second, understanding difficult concepts; and third, improving calculation skills.

To approach a problem, the first step is to make a plan. This plan should be based on investigation, observation, and awareness. Through investigation and observation, you identify what you do know. Through awareness, you recognize what you don't know and what you need to find. If you can connect what you know with what you don’t know through a clear plan, you've already approached 99% of the problem.

The second element is understanding difficult concepts, which is a necessary preparation for solving problems. Often, students find it hard to understand even after reading explanations because they lack conceptual knowledge. Once you realize that you lack certain concepts, you should open a textbook or reference book to analyze exactly where you're getting stuck. There are three typical areas of difficulty: understanding a calculation or derivation process, understanding a definition, or grasping the meaning and significance of a concept. Again, metacognition—the ability to distinguish between what you know and don’t know—plays a key role. Once you’ve identified what you don’t understand, the next steps become easier.

The third aspect is improving calculation skills. Many people doubt their math ability because they run out of time or make frequent calculation errors. Here, we need to strengthen both conscious and unconscious calculation skills. Conscious calculation involves repeatedly thinking through each step in your head until you can confidently explain the process to yourself.

Unconscious calculation is the intuitive ability to calculate accurately and quickly, which develops after enough practice with conscious calculation. Once you've trained in both, you’ll no longer miss problems just because of time constraints. But it's crucial to remember: during both conscious and unconscious calculations, you must stay fully focused. You might think, “Who solves math problems without focusing?”—but even focus itself must be conscious. Only through deliberate awareness can you reduce errors.

In summary, improving your math skills is about mastering problem-solving strategies, deeply understanding concepts, and training your calculation abilities through conscious effort and continuous focus.

But both men and women can be great nurses.

Male nurses often face bias. Some people ask, “Why didn’t you become a doctor?” or think men are not as gentle or kind. This is unfair. Female nurses also face limits, like being overlooked for leadership roles.

To break these stereotypes, we need more education and more support for gender diversity in healthcare.

Nursing is not about gender it’s about skills and compassion.

How do you feel when you see the color green?
Most people would say they feel calm or at ease. This simple reaction shows us that colors can have a powerful influence on our emotions, and that is exactly what we are going to explore.

Colors can trigger or evoke certain emotional responses. The way we interpret colors often depends on our cultural background and personal experiences. For example, red may stimulate feelings of passion, excitement, or even anger. Green, as mentioned earlier, tends to evoke calmness, stability, and a sense of nature. Blue often brings to mind rationality, clarity, and ambition.

The saturation and brightness of a color also play key roles in how we feel.
Highly saturated colors can feel energetic, exciting, and stimulating, while less saturated tones may come across as calm, serious, or even somber. Bright colors tend to feel cheerful and uplifting, while darker tones feel heavier but more grounded and secure.

Understanding these effects can be especially useful when designing interior spaces. Choosing the right colors for walls, lighting, and furniture can help create a desired emotional atmosphere. For instance, using a dark green color in a hospital waiting room can help promote feelings of peace and reassurance.

In the end, colors can energize us, calm us, and shape how we experience our surroundings. By thoughtfully applying these effects to our environment, we can create more balanced and emotionally supportive spaces. It is not just about seeing color, it is about feeling it.

Do you like fish? if you like it,You might feel a little rejected,As environmental pollution intensifies and accelerates, it is also affecting our bodies. What I am going to introduce is about marine pollution.Eight million tons of waste is dumped in the ocean every year, and plastic waste accounts for the majority, which greatly affects marine life,In addition, pollutants from factories, pesticides, and ships are adversely affecting and destroying the marine ecosystem.According to foreign press releases, plastic melts and combines with other natural objects to transform into plastic masses. The components of plastic in this transformation process affect seawater itself, affecting marine life, and when the affected seafood comes to our table and we intake it,Studies have shown that the microplastics we ingest do not come out of the body and even affect the mother's fetus,In the past, it was said that one credit card a month was eaten. But now we eat more than 2.5 cards a month. We humans get 15.2 percent of our protein from the ocean, which is absolutely not a small number, and more than 3 billion people depend on seafood as their main source of protein, and this number continues to grow,Hasn't the idea of seafood changed even now.

Conversation is essential in human relationships, but not all conversations have a positive effect. To build better relationships, proactive communication, in other words, effective conversation skills, are crucial.

Everyday conversation is not just about exchanging words; it's a process of sharing thoughts and emotions and building trust. How we speak and the attitude we take when listening can significantly shape the direction of a relationship.

In particular, showing respect to the other person is key to smooth communication. The most important attitude in conversation is listening. True communication begins when we make eye contact, nod, and respond in a way that shows we're engaged.

Ultimately, good conversation stems from a mindset of respect, consideration, and sincerity. These qualities help create deep trust and strong connections in any relationship.

So today, try to listen a little more closely and speak with warmth in your conversations with those around you.

That may be the first step toward better understanding and stronger relationships.

What do you think is the most captivating skill in basketball? Dunking? Three-point shooting? There are many opinions, but I believe the most impressive skill is the fadeaway—a move where players create space after contact. At the pinnacle of this skill stands the basketball god himself, Michael Jordan. Here is his life story.

Michael Jordan was born in 1963 in Brooklyn, New York. He was the fourth of five siblings and the third son. While his brothers often worked part-time jobs, Jordan spent his time at playgrounds and basketball hoops, playing both basketball and baseball, nurturing his dream of becoming an athlete. However, his parents were worried about his focus on sports.

Jordan later enrolled at Laney High School, but at just 178 cm (5’10”), he was considered undersized for basketball and lost his starting position. His height was one reason, but another was that he treated basketball as a hobby while passionately pursuing baseball. Hurt by losing his spot on the team, his pride was deeply wounded. He quit baseball and began to fully dedicate himself to basketball.

As if guided by fate, Jordan grew 15 cm, reaching 193 cm (6’4”), a height that gave him a significant advantage. His basketball skills flourished, and in the prestigious McDonald’s All-American Game, he scored an impressive 30 points. Yet despite being the top scorer, he did not win the MVP award—a decision still puzzling to this day.

He continued his career at college, where he was named Player of the Year. Jordan was then selected third overall in the NBA draft by the Chicago Bulls. Despite being the college Player of the Year, he was picked third because he played guard, not center. At that time, teams prioritized height and physicality when drafting players, so Jordan was not their top choice. His expression at the time showed dissatisfaction—he was fueled by a burning desire for revenge.

Jordan had incredible success in the NBA, but he couldn’t win a championship at first. The Los Angeles Lakers were a dominant team, and they created what was known as the "Jordan Rule," where at least three defenders would swarm Jordan whenever he had the ball, effectively neutralizing him. Because of this, Jordan and his team were repeatedly blocked in the Finals by the Lakers, led by Magic Johnson.

But Jordan never gave up. After the season ended, he stayed behind to train relentlessly, pushing himself to the limit. Seeing his dedication, his teammates followed his example. Together, they improved their fitness and addressed their weaknesses, all hungry for a championship.

In the next Finals series, Jordan played like a whirlwind. In the first game, despite the "Jordan Rule," he contributed 13 points, 1 assist, and 11 rebounds in 44 minutes, leading the team to a crucial victory. The second game went into overtime, ending in a tough loss to the Lakers, tying the series 1-1.

In the deciding game, Jordan unleashed his dominance with 33 points, 9 assists, and 15 rebounds in 44 minutes. With a legendary performance, he broke through the "Jordan Rule" and Magic Johnson’s defense, finally leading his team to an NBA championship.

After the game, Jordan said:
"Winning is not just about beating others; it’s about conquering yourself."

He held onto that championship for over three years before retiring, forever becoming a legend in the NBA.

From a young age, Musk showed a deep interest in science and technology. He went on to found multiple companies and has worked to change human life and civilization through future-oriented technologies. He is an entrepreneur and visionary.

Next is Warren Buffett. From childhood, he displayed exceptional talent in investment and numbers. As a teenager, he began investing and running businesses. He later grew Berkshire Hathaway into a world-renowned investment company. Through his investment philosophy, he has generated steady returns for decades and is considered one of the most respected investors in the world.

The common traits between these two individuals are that they both prioritize long-term vision and sustainability over short-term profits, they both showed innate talent from a young age, and they make important decisions independently.

As you can see, successful people tend to share similar characteristics. Thank you.

Professional baseball teams are not just organizations that play baseball. They have a significant impact on the economic aspects of our society

On the day of the game, the floating population and card usage in the region increase. For example, in Imdong, where the Tigers' home stadium is located, the floating population increased by 100,000 people compared to the day when there was no professional baseball game, and card consumption increased by 600 million won

If the baseball team wins the championship, the club's media exposure and public interest increase. At this time, the name of the sponsor company is also exposed, raising public awareness and spreading the positive image of winning to the brand, which can instill a positive perception among consumers

For example, Kia Motors, the parent company of the Kia Tigers, the most winning team in the Kbo League, is one of the popular car brands and has a high awareness among the public. I think this recognition is the result of the past wins by the Kia Tigers, as well as the company's promotional activities

Which team will win this year's professional baseball? I think we can better understand these effects by comparing the differences in public perception before and after the championship at the end of this year

Hello everyone! Today, I will talk about the pros and cons of social media.

Social media helps us stay connected with friends and family easily, no matter where they are. It allows us to chat, share photos, and keep up with what is happening in each other’s lives. During the COVID-19 pandemic, it was especially important to stay in touch online. It also helps us share ideas, learn new things, and express ourselves creatively. For example, many people use social media to find helpful information or to raise awareness about important issues.

However, there are some drawbacks. Many people spend too much time on social media, which can cause addiction and reduce focus on real life. Some students lose sleep or have lower grades because of this. Also, spending too much time online can reduce face-to-face communication skills.

Cyberbullying is another serious problem affecting many users. It’s important to stay safe and report harmful behavior online.

In conclusion, social media has both advantages and disadvantages. To use it well, we need to balance online and offline time and be careful about what we share. By using social media responsibly, we can enjoy its benefits while avoiding problems. thank you.

Do you know how much soldiers get paid now?

The wages of soldiers in the old and the present, and the current wages compared to other countries

I'm going to show you a table of comparisons between the salaries of soldiers from 1950 to 2025. So we've prepared seven slides in total. So if you look at the first slide, you're going to see that the salary is high at first because of the change in currency, but it's actually low. Now, it's going up year by year, and it's going to change significantly in 1975. But today, soldiers are complaining that noncommissioned officers have the same salary as ordinary soldiers

I'm going to introduce you to the salaries of soldiers from other countries. If you look here, Europe is 3.7 million won, life allowance and compensation for death are 700 million won. Japan is 5.5 million won, and compensation for death is 1 billion won. But in Korea, it's 100,000 won, not 90 million won in funeral subsidies for death, but 900 won?!

Soldiers from different countries benefit from annual holidays Europe has 130 million won in deposits and 260 million won in social security treatment and pension benefits Japan has additional points in pension benefits for employment. This is nonsense that Korea has no benefits and an official letter (to cover the reserve forces at the same time) is lower than other countries

Hello everyone!
Do you like baseball?
In Korea, we have a professional baseball league called the KBO League.
Recently, the popularity of the KBO League has been rising rapidly, and the number of spectators has also been increasing every year.

Today, I would like to talk about the reasons behind the increase in KBO League attendance.

First, during the COVID-19 pandemic, games were played without any spectators in the stadiums.
However, after the pandemic ended, fans were finally able to return to the stadiums and enjoy the games in person again.

Second, the improvement of stadium facilities has made a big difference.
Many KBO stadiums have upgraded their seating, lighting, and food zones.
Now, fans can enjoy delicious food, clean facilities, and comfortable seats while watching the game.

Lastly, the KBO League has introduced new systems such as the Automatic Ball-Strike system (ABS) and the Pitch Clock.
These technologies have made the games faster and more exciting.
Because the game time is shorter, fans can stay focused throughout the match.
In addition, the unique KBO cheering culture, with songs, chants, and coordinated fan performances, adds even more excitement.

In conclusion, the KBO League has become one of Korea’s representative sports.
As more people visit the stadiums and enjoy the fun mood, baseball continues to grow as a beloved part of Korean culture.

Opening:

Thesis statement:

Body

Topic sentence 1:

Topic sentence 2:

Topic sentence 3:

Opening:

Good morning everyone. Today, I would like to talk about something that every student experiences, no matter their grade or school. It is something that comes around several times each year and affects our daily life, our mood, and even our health. Yes, I am talking about exam time.

Thesis Statement:

So, the main question is: How can students manage stress while taking exams?

Body

Topic Sentence 1:

First, it is clear that students experience a great amount of stress during exams.

During exam periods, students often sleep less, worry more, and feel pressure to perform well. For many students, their future depends on their grades, so every test feels like an important challenge. This stress can affect both the body and the mind. For example, some students may feel headaches, stomach pain, or faster heartbeats. Others may feel nervous, frustrated, or even depressed. So, it is true that exam stress is a very serious issue.

Topic Sentence 2:

Then, what causes this stress in the first place?

There are several reasons. One reason is high expectations. Students want to make their parents and teachers proud, or they want to reach their goals, such as getting into a good university. Another reason is competition. Students often compare their scores with others, which makes them afraid of failure. Also, lack of preparation can increase stress. When students feel they did not study enough, they become more anxious. All of these factors can create strong pressure during exams.

Topic Sentence 3:

Now, how can students manage this stress effectively?

First, students should make a realistic study plan instead of trying to memorize everything at once. Studying little by little helps the brain remember better and feel more comfortable. Second, students should take short breaks to relax. Light exercise, stretching, or even drinking water can reduce stress. Also, talking with friends, family, or teachers can help students feel supported. Finally, getting enough sleep is extremely important. A healthy mind needs rest to perform well.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, managing stress during exams is also a part of a student’s ability and skill. Knowing how to control your mind and emotions can be just as important as studying the textbook. So remember: preparing well, staying calm, and taking care of yourself are key steps to success. Thank you

Have you ever challenged yourself to focus on the process rather than the result?
In our competitive society, we are often told that success means achieving goals, winning prizes, or getting perfect grades. But today, I want to take a moment to think differently. First, I want to explain why I believe the process is more important than the result.
When we focus on the process, we learn, grow, and build real skills. Even if the result is not perfect, the effort and persistence we show shape who we are. For example, when a student studies hard for a test, the knowledge and discipline gained through studying are far more valuable than the grade itself. Next, let’s think about the problems of a result-centered mindset.
When people only care about the outcome, they may take shortcuts, cheat, or feel disappointed even after doing their best. This way of thinking can destroy creativity and motivation. If we measure everything only by results, we forget that failure can also be a powerful teacher. So, I truly believe that the process is more important than the result.
Results fade, but the lessons, experiences, and memories we gain along the way stay with us forever.
Let’s challenge ourselves to enjoy the process, learn from it, and grow through it.
Thank you.

Opening
Have you ever heard the word “job shortage”?
It literally means a situation where getting a job becomes extremely difficult — and it’s a reality that may soon face all of us.
If we look at the Seoul National University job fair held in August 2025, we can clearly see how serious this problem has become.
Big companies such as Naver, SK, Kakao, and CJ didn’t even participate this year.
As a result, the number of participating companies dropped from 134 last year to only 91 this year — a 32% decrease.
Even at Seoul National University, which is known to have the best students in the country, this situation clearly shows how severe the employment crisis has become.

Thesis Statement
One of the main reasons for this job shortage is said to be the rapid development of Artificial Intelligence.
So today, I’d like to talk about how AI contributes to the job shortage and what kind of effects this situation brings to our society.

Body

Topic Sentence 1
In the past, new employees mainly did simple and repetitive tasks — organizing data, writing basic code, or handling routine office work.
However, AI can now complete these tasks faster and more accurately.
Because of this, companies no longer feel the need to hire as many new workers, which has directly led to a decline in entry-level employment.
If we look at the data from the past decade, the youth employment rate in Korea has stayed around the 40-percent range and has recently started to fall again — suggesting a dark outlook for the future.
(Visual Aid 1: A graph showing the steady stagnation of the youth employment rate in Korea over the past 10 years.)

Topic Sentence 2
If this job shortage continues, our society will face a number of serious problems.
As fewer people earn money, consumption naturally decreases.
This reduction in spending leads to slower economic growth and, eventually, economic stagnation.
Moreover, young people who struggle to find stable jobs cannot afford the high costs of marriage and child-rearing.
As a result, more people avoid marriage altogether, which leads to lower birth rates.
This creates a vicious cycle — fewer jobs, less spending, and a shrinking population — all of which can further slow down the economy.

Conclusion There is no doubt that AI has brought many benefits to our society — greater efficiency, innovation, and convenience.
However, at the same time, it has also created new challenges that we cannot ignore.
To address these challenges, we must find ways for humans and AI to coexist — for example, by creating new types of jobs that focus on human creativity and empathy.
I believe that building a world where humans and AI can grow together will be one of the most important tasks for our future society.

Thank you.

Have you ever heard of companies like Uber or Airbnb?
Many of us are familiar with these names, but we might not fully understand what kind of economic system they belong to.

Today, I’d like to talk about the meaning, examples, and impacts of the sharing economy, which is changing the way we live and work.

So, what exactly is the sharing economy?
The sharing economy is an economic model where people share access to goods and services, often through online platforms.
Instead of owning everything individually, people can rent, borrow, or share resources with others.
This system helps reduce waste and promotes more efficient use of resources.
Over the past few years, the sharing economy has been growing rapidly, and experts expect it to expand even more in the future.

For example, companies like Uber and Airbnb are great representations of the sharing economy.
Uber is a ride-sharing service that connects drivers and passengers through a mobile app.
Rather than owning taxis, Uber provides a platform that allows people to share rides and earn money using their own cars.
Airbnb, on the other hand, allows people to rent out their homes or rooms to travelers.
This helps both sides — hosts can earn extra income, and guests can find cheaper, more personal places to stay.
These companies show how technology can connect people

Have you ever tried to study more efficiently?

Most of us usually learn by reading or writing. But have you ever wondered if there might be a better way?

Actually, there is — and it’s something we use every day without even realizing it: images.

Today, I’m going to talk about how using images to remember information affects our brain and helps us learn more effectively.

First, when we learn through images, the visual cortex and the hippocampus in the right brain become more active.

The visual cortex processes what we see, and the hippocampus helps form memories.

As you can see, image learning stimulates larger areas of the brain than text-based learning does.

Second, when we recall something using images, the connections between neurons — called synapses — become stronger.

This means that visual memory helps the brain build more stable neural pathways.

Each time we recall an image, the synaptic links are reinforced, making it easier to remember next time.

Finally, because of these processes, the information moves from the hippocampus to the cerebral cortex, where long-term memories are stored.

So, instead of temporary memory, visual learning helps information stay in our brain for a much longer time.

As shown in this graph, image-based learners often retain knowledge more effectively over time.

In conclusion, learning through images can be far more efficient than just reading or writing.

When something is hard to memorize, try creating your own image of it.

Remember — seeing once is better than hearing a hundred times.

Thank you.

The Effects of Visual Imagery on Recall Memory: Dual Coding of Depth of Processing?

Recently, environmental problems caused by technology have become a serious issue around the world. Because of this, the need for efficient construction technology is growing rapidly. One technology that fits this need is 3D printing construction technology.

Today, I will talk about the current status and challenges of 3D printing construction technology in Korea.

Although 3D printing in construction has great potential, there are still many technical limitations.

For example, it is difficult to print large buildings because the materials used are not yet strong or durable enough. Also, the printing machines are very expensive and not easy to move to construction sites.

Another challenge is the lack of clear laws and building codes for 3D printed structures in Korea.

Even if a company builds a 3D printed house, it cannot easily get official approval because there are no safety standards yet. This slows down the spread of the technology.

Despite these problems, Korea is making progress.

Recently, several research centers and companies are developing new materials and automated printing systems. Some small 3D printed houses have already been built for testing.

To solve the challenges, Korea needs to update construction laws, train experts, and support research funding.

In conclusion, 3D printing construction technology is a promising solution for the future of sustainable and efficient building.

Even though Korea still faces technical and institutional challenges, continuous innovation and government support will help this technology grow.

I believe that one day, 3D printed buildings will become a common sight in our cities — saving time, cost, and helping our environment.

Thank you for listening.

Have you ever stayed up all night studying for a test? Many students think that sleeping less gives them more time to study, and therefore, better grades.

But the truth is, lack of sleep actually harms both your memory and your health. Today, I’ll tell you about the impact of sleep deprivation on our brain and body.

While we sleep, our brain is still active. It organizes the information we learned during the day.

This process is called memory consolidation, and it’s essential for learning.

However, when we don’t get enough sleep, the brain fails to store new information properly. That’s why we often can’t remember what we studied the night before. Look at this graph. It shows that people who got enough sleep remembered information much better than those who didn’t. Especially for positive memories, sleep made a big difference. So, sleeping well helps our brain store and protect memories more effectively.

Sleep also has a huge impact on our physical health.

During deep sleep, our body repairs muscles, produces hormones, and strengthens the immune system.

But when we don’t get enough sleep, the balance of key hormones becomes disrupted. For example, one study found that after just one night of total sleep deprivation, the satiety hormone Leptin became lower, while the hunger hormone Ghrelin went up. This means people are more likely to gain weight or become obese. So, sleep is not just rest. It is a time when the body works to keep us healthy and balanced.

Sleep doesn’t affect just our body and memory.

It also affects our emotions and focus. When we are sleep-deprived, we feel more stressed, get irritated easily, and struggle to concentrate. This is why students who pull all-nighters often feel anxious, tired, and forgetful the next day. In the long term, this can cause lower grades and even harm relationships with others.

As we saw, sleep deprivation is truly harmful to both our mind and body. Sleep is not a waste of time. It is the best investment in your health and your grades. So instead of staying up all night to study, get proper sleep — your brain and body will thank you. Thank you for listening.

Ladies and gentlemen, you’ve probably all used AI at least once — maybe to write an essay, edit a photo, or get an answer quickly. As I’ve been using AI over time, I’ve noticed something remarkable: AI keeps getting better and smarter every day. Today, I’d like to talk about one important question — How long will AI keep developing. From a technical point of view, AI continues to evolve by learning from massive amounts of data. Every second, it processes and analyzes information far faster than humans ever could. As technology advances, there’s a real possibility that AI might one day reach human-level intelligence — or even creativity. From a social perspective, AI is changing the way we live and work. It’s true that some jobs are being replaced by machines. However, new jobs and industries are also emerging — such as AI engineers, data ethicists, and robot designers. Society must learn to adapt, finding ways to coexist and cooperate with AI rather than compete with it.
Finally, from an ethical perspective, as AI grows more powerful, we must strengthen responsibility and ethical standards. AI should always remain a tool that serves humanity — not something that replaces it. We must make sure AI follows human values like fairness, transparency, and respect for life. In conclusion, AI’s development will not stop — its potential is truly limitless. But the future of AI depends not on machines, but on us — the humans who create and guide them. If we lead it with wisdom and responsibility, AI will become one of the greatest allies of humankind.

Opening Have you ever heard of 'loss avoidance'?

Thesis statement body:This is one of the concepts of psychology that is overly obsessed with the possibility of losing money rather than the possibility of benefiting. The principle of loss aversion was first proposed by Daniel Kahneman and Amos Tversky in 1979. Loss aversion happens when people face the same amount of gains and losses and find the loss is more unbearable. In other words, the pain of loss is greater than the pleasure of equal gain. The cause of loss aversion lies in people's asymmetric emotional response to gain and loss. This is particularly strong during the anticipation processing and the immediate experience after presenting the outcome.

Topic sentence 1:If you only look at the loss, it will only be harder

for example ,If you're in stocks, investing, or doing business, don't be afraid of losing money. Wait and see. Dining is more than just eating — it’s a reflection of respect, connection, and culture. Today, let’s take a journey around the world through the lens of dining etiquette.

Every country expresses manners and respect at the table in its own unique way. By understanding these customs, we can build deeper cultural awareness and appreciation.

Dining manners — and what they mean — vary greatly from place to place.

For instance, in Japan, people say “Itadakimasu” before eating to show gratitude for the meal. In France, it’s polite to keep your hands visible on the table, but never on your lap. In India, eating with your right hand is a sign of respect, while using the left hand is considered impolite. Each of these gestures reflects the values and traditions of the culture.

Some customs are even the complete opposite of what we might expect.

In Korea, for example, younger people wait for their elders to start eating before they begin. But in many Western countries, everyone starts together once the food is served. In China, leaving a little food on your plate shows that you’re satisfied, while in the United States, finishing everything is seen as a compliment to the cook. What’s polite in one culture can be rude in another!

Many countries also have unique dining traditions that carry deep cultural meaning.

In Ethiopia, people share food from a single large plate, symbolizing trust and friendship. In Thailand, it’s polite to use a spoon rather than a fork to bring food to your mouth. In Morocco, families sit in a circle and eat from communal dishes with their hands — a tradition that strengthens family bonds. These customs remind us that sharing food is, in fact, sharing culture.

In the end, dining etiquette isn’t just about rules — it’s about respect, gratitude, and human connection. The next time we sit down for a meal in another country, let’s remember that every small gesture tells a story about who we are and what we value.

Thank you.

When we think of students, one image instantly comes to mind — the school uniform.

It’s more than just clothing. It represents student life, discipline, and belonging.

Today, I want to talk about how school uniforms influence students — their identity, behavior, and sense of equality.

Body

Topic Sentence 1: Uniforms build a sense of belonging and identity.

Wearing the same outfit helps students feel part of one community. It reduces competition over fashion and makes everyone feel equal.

Topic Sentence 2: Uniforms can reduce school violence and misbehavior.

Uniforms remind students of school rules and responsibilities. When everyone looks the same, there’s less judging, teasing, or bullying based on appearance.

Uniforms promote fairness and equality.

Not all students can afford trendy or expensive clothes. Uniforms make everyone look equal and help students focus on learning, not fashion.

In conclusion, school uniforms do more than make students look neat.

They build identity, prevent misbehavior, and create equality.

So next time you see a student in uniform, remember — it’s not just fabric.
