I am still basking in the bliss of seventeen, a Libra kid and an INFJ. I was born and raised in my quiet hometown, the Municipality of Loreto, Agusan del Sur, CARAGA Region. If you are curious, let me paint a picture of my beloved hometown.

I once shared with my classmates about the lack of fancy malls or towering skyscrapers in my hometown. Instead, we have the largest marsh in the Philippines—the Agusan Marsh—an ecosystem to a diverse species of wildlife.

Among the rivers that connects this vast wetland to the mainland is the Umayam River, flowing through our municipality. Aside being the gateway to the marsh, the Umayam River also serves as the heart of our hometown and the life that nurtured the Lumads in Loreto. Although I was not a Manobo descent, I grew up deeply to their rich culture—an opportunity for which I am most grateful.

From dancing to their arts to wearing their traditional textiles and learning their dialect, this aspect of my upbringing has greatly influenced and shaped me into the person I am today. It has instilled in me a deep sense of cultural sensitivity, keeping me rooted, and fostering a deep appreciation for life.

Instagram is a cornerstone of my daily media consumption. Naturally, my page has grown into a moss of green collage, and I'm hopeful it will have even more pictures by the end of this year.

Instagram serves as a convenient platform for me to upload my photos privately. Unlike Facebook, where my page is more public, Instagram is reserved for my close friends. Moreover, I use this app to update my story and share snapshots of my everyday life for keeps. But most importantly, it's a handy app for staying updated on the latest news and posts from the celebrities and artists I follow.

For content and engagement, I focus on music artists like Taylor Swift, some K-pop groups, and Percy Jackson-related tweets for entertainment, which frequently appear on my timeline. From the funniest content to the most controversial topics, Twitter provides a variety of discussions. However, there are deeper and more valuable aspects to this app than just entertainment. It is a great space to voice opinions and address relevant issues.

Personally, I use Twitter for both local and global news updates, although that while it may not always be entirely reliable, our generation's reaction speed to news on this platform is unmatched. Aside from news and entertainment consumption, I also use this app for community engagement, especially regarding timely social issues. By simply liking and retweeting tweets, I believe we can collectively contribute to making a difference.

On the positive side, my media consumption has also contributed significantly to my personal growth. For instance, immersing myself in the Percy Jackson series in my youth years instilled in me great values of cultural sensitivity and inclusivity, fostering empathy towards diverse individuals, including those with disabilities. Moreover, the humor and fantastical elements of the series influenced my creative style in writing and art. Additionally, my engagement with different media has led me to discover and cultivate hobbies like photography and a love for nature, particularly mountains, inspiring dreams of future hikes and adventures.

Furthermore, the different kinds of relationships portrayed in books I read, ranging from friendships to family bonds, have honed my emotional intelligence and empathy. My exposure to life-stories through literature and visual media, including movies, series, and documentaries, has heightened my awareness of societal issues and encouraged me to advocate for justice and equality. Through the media, I have found a platform to speak against abuse and injustice, striving to be an active agent of positive change in my community.

Kidding aside, Rick's crazy books about Greek gods, goddesses, and monsters made a pivotal impact on my childhood. It was my escape from reality. It made me laugh, cry, blush, and scream in silence. Later, I realized that it was more than just gods and adventure. The books taught me a lot of things. My fascination with Greek mythology was just the icing on top. While writing this, I am actually very glad he was able to satisfy my thirst for myth stories. Unfortunately, my obsession did not stop with the first five book series. If you are wondering, I am now on his third book series, still about Greek myth, which is the Trials Of Apollo. I read the two series on my phone and finally got a physical copy for the third series. I plan to collect all his books someday and put them on my shelves.

Representation and diversity are pretty rare in children's books. However, Rick was inclusive with his stories. If you did not know, he created the entire world of Percy Jackson after his son Haley, who has ADHD and Dyslexia, which he now overcame. In fact, Percy is originated from Haley himself.
