-My hobbies son hacerme mis propias uñas. Es mi forma de desestresarme y me ahorro un montón de dinero aunque dure dos o tres horas en el proceso.

-Yo decidí seguir la carrera de educadora bilingüe porque me di cuenta que debí hacerlo hace mucho. I have a masters in accounting and I worked accounts receivables for 2 years. It was not fun and I realized I always said I wanted to be a teacher and I still don't understand why I didn't take that instead of accounting but I guess I will have 2 masters now lol. En mi hogar solo se habla español y mi madre siempre me peleaba por hablar en ingles en casa, gracias a ella hoy domino los dos idiomas muy bien. Me gustaría enseñarles a mis estudiantes que se puede tener dos idiomas y dominarlos los dos, y ayudarlos en su camino hacia el ingles, ya que mis alumnos son recién llegados.

When my oldest child moved to Maine to continue his education at Bates College I decided to continue with mine too, so I registered at Boricua College to finish my Bachelor Degree. Then I realized that it was not to late to get my Masters Degree, so HERE I AM.

En mi vida como educadora he ayudado a muchos pequeñines a alcanzar metas tan simples como, alimentarse por ellos mismos, entender sus necesidades corporales, dejar de usar pañales, poder expresar sus pensamientos y necesidades, entender que un salon de clases le da seguridad, amor y conocimiento. And of course I learned from them patience, being more creative, smiling from little things and so much more.

2) In my first year as a Bilingual Education teacher, I'll be working with a 6th-grade Dual Language Social Studies class 3) Me encanta compartir tiempo de calidad con mi mamá y papá, bailar, escuchar música, estar en mi casa viendo series y películas, montar bicicleta, viajar, tomar buen café, disfrutar buenos postres y comer mucho. 4) I have always dreamed of becoming a teacher. Tuve la oportunidad de estudiar en una escuela que formaba futuros maestros from k-12. So, I decided to become a foreign languages teacher, (English and French). I majored in Modern Languages and realized the importance of immersing myself in the American culture to enhance my language skills. Estando aquí, mi perspectiva del mundo se amplió y ya fue muy difícil querer regresar a Colombia. In the pursue of a teaching career here I realized that there was a need for Spanish teachers (lo que no habia sido mi preferencia nunca antes). I then pursued a Master's degree in Teaching Spanish as a Second Language at a University based in Spain. Fue un reto porque nunca me consideré buena estudiando a distancia y 100% en línea. Finalmente, con mucho esfuerzo y sacrificio me gradué en abril de 2024. En el proceso I knew I wanted to be part of the public education system here because we are underrepresented everywhere in the system and I see it as a platform to grow personally and professionally. It was then that I joined the Teaching Collaborative and I learned about the Bilingual Education World from a very different perspective from what I have been doing so far. Ever since, I feel like I can make an impact in helping students with a much easier transition moving to a new culture and still being proud of their identity and putting into good use all the assets they already bring with them to this country.

-Originalmente yo no fui a la universidad para ser maestra aunque muchos en mi vida me decían que yo seria perfecta en la educación. Pero yo fui a la universidad para criminología y estaba trabajando de supervisora para-Converse hasta que un día fui a mi High School y estuve hablando con mis maestros favoritos y me hablaron sobre el NYTC y lo bueno que es ser maestros. Desde ese día aplique y aquí estamos, aunque este camino asido difícil amo teaching!! Especialmente Bilingual o Dual Language porque yo cresi solo hablando español y era un ESL student entonces yo entiendo lo que sienten los niños. Mi mama quería que supiera mi cultura y de donde venimos y le agradezco mucho. Mi razon por poner todo mi corazón en ser maestra es por la niña que no era tan latina en Honduras y Guatemala pero no tan Americana en los Estados Unidos (me). Mi meta es tocar a un alumno y que se acuerde de la maestra que siempre este allí por ellos. :)

I will teach the first-grade Dual Language, at the Long Wood Academy of Discovery District 8 in the Bronx.

I like to live a good life ( so being a teacher today is "an opportunity ) to travel to different countries where I can have warm and light blue water like the sky, where I don't have to clean, cook, or do laundry lol, and where I raise my right hand and they pour me champagne while I sunbathe.

I also want to visit my family and friends in Argentina and enjoy the building of my retirement. If I am in NY, I like to spend time at home, after a deep cleaning ( I don't like to clean, but I hate the mess), watch an action or funny romantic movie, and have a glass of red wine. On Wednesday and Sunday, I serve in a local church in Astoria, because I am grateful to God, and I want to give to Him a little of so much He gives me and my family every day.

Me gradué de profesora de Ciencias Sociales y tengo un posgrado de de Especialización Docente de Nivel Superior en Atención a la Diversidad e Inclusión Educativa en Argentina, y tengo Inglés como Segunda Lengua de la Universidad Americana de Asunción-Paraguay. 

Desde mis inicios sobre todo en Argentina, trabajo con comunidades vulnerables, por lo tanto familias vulnerables, en donde los chicos se llevan la peor parte, mis padres son ejemplos de trabajar para los mas necesitados, y llevo ese ADN, me siento feliz siendo util o poder, ser un nexo de ayuda para lo que fuera necesario, me adapto facilmente a cualquier circustancia, trato de sumar si me lo permiten, y si no esta bien, no me gusta perder mi valioso tiempo con absolutamente nada que no me sume, si no se descarta.

Enseñé inglés como profesora suplente en ambos países . La escuela es mi segunda casa, la docencia es algo innato que descubrí cuando estudiaba Administración de Mercadeo y tuve la oportunidad de enseñar inglés y me pagaron una buena cantidad, fue ahí donde cambió mi historia docente, alrededor de los 22 años. 

La pandemia me dio la oportunidad de ser nominada como maestra suplente en el mismo colegio donde el 3 de septiembre de 2024 comencé como material, como maestra. Esta nominacion fue un regalo del cielo, por que detuvo mi regreso a Argentina.

Realmente me negué a volver volver a estudiar , no quería todo el estrés que pasé, lo que pasó y estoy segura que seguiré pasando, a mis 47 años, pero mi jefa creyó en mí, incluso con las barreras del idioma, pensé que no podría hacerlo, pero la pasión estaba ahí, pero el inglés aún se está puliendo. Así que aquí estoy.

Voy a dar mi 100 %, para llegar exitosamente a la culminacion de este Master.

My hobbies include hiking, reading, movie/show critiquing, traveling, organizing community projects, volunteering, and learning new things.

My journey to bilingual education is a bit unusual and a tangled mess. So, in a few words — I’m following my calling and it has led me here.

Este será mi primer año enseñando a niños de primaria en P.S. 35 Franz Siegel del Bronx. Voy a enseñar 4to grado Matemáticas y Ciencia. Estoy muy emocionada y contenta con mi posición. Claro que no todo es color de rosa en mi escuela pero yo estoy dispuesta aprender y dar lo mejor de mí para que mis estudiantes logren sus metas.

Mi gran afición es pasar tiempo y pasear con mi hija e hijo. Mis hijos, mis padres y mi hermana significan todo para mí.  Me gusta conocer y aprender mucho de mis ancestros y de las culturas en el mundo. Mis pasatiempos son artísticos: bailar, cantar, escuchar música pero por el otro lado me gusta leer de política.

Decidí la carrera de educadora bilingüe porque yo alguna vez fui estudiante de bilingüe aquí en NY. También ya desde pequeña en mi hogar me gustaba jugar a que yo era maestra. Después de terminar la high school empecé por enseñar ingles en una escuelita privada en México pero no fui entrenada y solo fue muy poco tiempo. En Septiembre 2022 volví a enseñar pero esta vez siguiendo los ejemplos de un profesor de ELA, fui enseñando ingles a los inmigrantes, y justo me asignaron otro materia para enseñar Español. Yo aspiraba a ser una profesional y mejor decidí aplicar a Teaching Collaborative. Siempre me ha encantado ayudar a la comunidad, y ahora mi anhelo es ayudar a muchos niños obtener una educación decente y exitosa.

   Jiu-Jitsu: I'm a 4-stripe blue belt with a little over three years of training under my belt.

   Esoteric Studies: I frequently explore topics related to Astrology and Numerology. I enjoy studying and practicing divination to deepen my intuitive skills and gain personal insights.

   Personal Development: I constantly engage in self-improvement activities that align with my goals and aspirations. My lifelong aim is to be the best version of myself as I continue to grow and evolve as a person.

4. I chose to be a bilingual educator because I feel a strong responsibility to ensure that children not only learn academic skills but also understand and appreciate the cultural heritage and values that come with speaking multiple languages. I believe it’s important to preserve and pass on these traditions to the next generation, helping them to stay connected to their roots while thriving in a diverse world.

Este año estoy en una escuela nueva, The Max P.S 70 en el Bronx. I was assigned a fourth grade bilingual dual language class.

My hobby and part time business is baking. I've been baking for 7 years now.

Decedi seguir la carrera de educador bilingüe por que creo que es algo que es natural en mi. Como estudiante bilingūe tuve buenas experiencias y me gustaria ser una persona that makes a difference or makes learning english easier for my students.

Decidí convertirme en educadora bilingüe porque quiero que todos los niños tengan éxito independientemente de su origen o capacidad. Los estudiantes ELL siempre han tenido un lugar especial en mi corazón porque, aunque yo era hablante nativa de inglés, mi padre siempre se aseguró de que mantuviera mis raíces hispanas y mi idioma español. Quiero que todos mis estudiantes tengan éxito académico en ambos idiomas.

I just recently switched over to the Ed Prep BILED program so I am nervous yet excited to be here!

Mi nombre es Janette Zenteno pronombres she/her/ella. Naci en East Harlem, Manhattan pero actualmente vivo en El Bronx, NY. Mi mama es la República Dominicana y mi papa es de Mexico.

I will be teaching as a 4th grade Dual Language teacher at PS/MS 57 James Weldon Johnson located in East Harlem, my hometown.

My hobbies are family time with my loved ones, sleeping, and going on frozen yogurt and sushi dates, Target/FiveBelow& Walmart runs with my 7 year old broke best friend, my daughter lol.

-Mis aficiones son bailar, dibujar, leer, viajar y pasar tiempo con mis hijos.

-Llegué hace 3 años a USA, fui profesora de preescolar en Colombia durante 10 años y comencé a enseñar el idioma inglés en el año 2015. De allí la idea de seguir mi carrera aquí en NYC como educadora bilingüe.
