         <description><![CDATA[<p>Technology and science do not determine cultural developments by imposing their logic upon us; rather they dispose our cultures to take on new possibilities&nbsp;(Mikael Hård, 2005 ). Thus the true power of technology comes from how people use it to create meaningful experiences.</p><p><br/></p><p>The use of micro:bits in education, is not a one-size-fits-all solution, rather its effectiveness depends on how educators and students use it in their own way to create worthy, inclusive learning experiences.</p><p><br/></p><p>The micro:bits make coding and digital creativity accessible to all learners regardless of their gender or global location.</p><p><br/></p><p>It's low cost and interactive design helps in bridging the gap in digital education, especially among those learning in classrooms that are under- resourced.</p><p><br/></p><p>Knowledge of the sciences, available primarily through colleges……became the device by which technologies were controlled by some and denied to others (Pursell, 2007). Thus tools like micro:bit help in challenging this trend by promoting a more inclusive alternative to digital learning.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Micro:bits can be even used by learners who might be completely unaware of technology. </p><p><br/></p><p>The resource tagged here provides a case study where a 11 year old girl who held a micro:bit for the first time, completed an innovation in less than eight hours. This contrast with what (Pursell, 2007) describes, activities that in the nineteenth century had been widely available... became increasingly open only to those who were scientifically trained and formally permitted to enter them. </p><p><br/></p><p>Therefore this creation encourages learners to explore, learn by making mistakes and problem solving, promoting equity through engagement and empowerment rather than reducing the role of the learner into a passive listener. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>(Pursell, 2007) elaborates how the access to scientific knowledge and tools were limited to a certain group of students, making education less open and fair. (Pursell, 2007).</p><p><br/></p><p>According to (Mikael Hård, 2005 ), the image of ‘society’ replaced that of ‘community’ as the fundamental basis for the bonds of human solidarity. This describes how people started thinking in systems and giving less importance to personal relationships, resulting a cultural shift.</p><p><br/></p><p>(Mikael Hård, 2005 ) further explains how mathematical logic and experimental procedures replaced, lived experience, pointing out the fact that learning became more about rules and less about the real world.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The innovation of the micro :bit challenges these long lived ideas and encourages in placing the process of learning back into the hands of the learner, by providing them opportunities to create, explore and learn by doing, and to not just follow instructions.</p><p><br/></p><p>Rather than just listening and absorbing facts, the use of micro:bits creates a learning space where&nbsp;all students — regardless of ability or background — get the opportunity to go beyond notes and theory&nbsp;to design solutions to real-world problems using their own&nbsp;ideas and creativity.</p><p><br/></p><p>Isn’t this the true purpose of education? Or are we still measuring success only through written exams that test&nbsp;rote memory, qualifying students for jobs or further study, while overlooking their real potential to innovate and think?</p><p>With tools like micro:bit,&nbsp;we are not just teaching students to think in systems — we are helping them become sensitive to the world around them.</p><p><br/></p><p>We aim to develop&nbsp;holistic learners, not just scholars who collect facts or think only in structured models. Learners who feel, observe, and act&nbsp;— not just memorise and repeat.</p><p><br/></p><p>It helps fix the unfair systems of the past by making technology&nbsp;open, hands-on, and led by the learner, creating a more human and inclusive way to learn.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>I feel that the adverse effects of industrialization of education, still prevails within the education system of Sri Lanka. It is highly systematized and teacher – student performances are largely judged based on competitive examinations.</p><p><br/></p><p>I have felt within my years of experience that I could do much more for the kids, in terms of creativity in inculcating mathematical concepts among my students, but the restrictions of time , the vast syllabus to be covered within that short span of time and the pressure of preparing students for the exams has led to following stereotypical methods in the teaching – learning process. This aligns with what (Pursell, 2007) emphasize as <strong>&nbsp;“</strong>a diminished degree of freedom and meaning”&nbsp;</p><p><br/></p><p>I often see that students struggle with certain mathematical concepts, especially when learning is based on fixed methods, and exam focused teaching model. It works for a part of learners while the others feel disconnected and see – learning mathematics as something to “get through” rather than something that they could interact with, explore and enjoy.</p><p><br/></p><p>While I haven’t had the opportunity to use micro: bit in my teaching space yet, I strongly believe that it could allow my kids to explore math through interactive, real-life applications – such as using sensors to measure motion, working with data, or coding simple simulations that bring logic and numbers to life.</p><p><br/></p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Micro: bits offer an affordable, inclusive and engaging solution for developing skills in a context like Sri Lanka where access to digital tools can be limited.</p><p><br></p><p>I believe integrating tools like this into the classroom would help learners not only grasp mathematical concepts more deeply but also&nbsp;gain confidence, creativity, and real-world problem-solving skills. And would offer learners to see, build and experiment over being victims of systemized – industrial centered educational systems.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Technology that was meant to be a space which allowed to conect and share has now become a place of misinformation, tracking and systems that treat people like products.</p><p><br></p><p>In education, technolgy that was meant to aid the learning process, has ended up being cold, automatic and out of touch with real learners. Also, has made itself non accessible to many, especially for students in schools with fewer resources. &nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p>This implies that we need technology that places students first, thats fair, thoughtful and is built with care.</p>]]></description>

What matters is&nbsp;how we use it to uplift, include, and inspire&nbsp;learners from every background.</p><p><br/></p><p>As a teacher, I see this not just as a teaching tool — but as a way to help students build confidence, curiosity, and care.
