Experiencing abuse or neglect as a child is a major risk factor for developing mental health conditions. Studies show that children who experience maltreatment are more likely to have: a family history of mental illness, an increased risk for developing mental health disorders, and exposure to other risk factors: these can include poverty, social disadvantage, and bullying, which can further heighten their vulnerability to mental health problems.

Across a person's lifetime, childhood maltreatment is the single most significant predictor of developing mental health problems. This includes a wide range of psychological issues, such as mood disorders, anxiety, personality disorders, substance abuse, aggression, and self-harm. The image above shows the poverty rate by age and also reveals that 18 and under is the demographic most affected by poverty. The main problem is the youth's dependency on there parents. If there parents are in relatively bad situation the kids will also inherit a not so favorable situation. The only way to truly solve this is to focus on the kids and put them in situation to succeed and give them tools that if they want to give it there all get out of that bad situation they can. Ways to help these kids succeed is with housing if there parents aren't fit to raise them, and also things like healthcare. Childhood poverty shouldn't be as common as it is and should be a main focus to make sure the youth is on the right path to improve society as a whole.

The post above shows the rate of suicide and how it currently improves over time. Suicide is when someone intentionally ends their own life. It s a really serious issue because it affects not just the person who dies, but also their family and friends who are left behind. I believe this is a serious problem because it can leave people feeling sad, guilty, and confused. It's like a permanent solution to temporary problems, because there are often ways to get help and things can get better. Plus, every person has value and potential, and suicide takes away the chance for things to improve.
