         <description><![CDATA[<div>As Columbus discovered America, he also discovered the millions of gold and silver mines.  Since Spain hired Columbus to go to the Americas, they claimed these large amounts of gold and silver and used  this to create one of the first global economic systems. if Columbus hadn't found the Americas, those other countries wouldn't be able to trade goods for silver and gold, and there wouldn't be a larger and earlier  established global economy.<br>------------kelsey v.</div>]]></description>
