To My Dear Future Self,

I hope this letter finds you in the classroom you always imagined yourself in, beaming with pride. As someone who is just starting on the path to becoming a special education teacher, I want to encourage you to remember why you started out on this path, even if it may be difficult.

If you truly think that every child should have the opportunity to learn, develop, and be noticed, then this is the road for you. Students who required more love, patience, and support have always been close to your heart. You were the only one who could see their potential. That's quite cool.

Doubts about your abilities, tactics, and influence are inevitable. At those moments, keep in mind the kids whose faces lit up as a result of your perseverance and the knowledge they gained. The moments that mean the most are the tiny successes, so hold on to them.

Honesty, inquisitiveness, and unwavering support are musts. As a teacher, let kindness guide you, and hold on to the conviction that every student can do extraordinary things given the chance.

Lead with compassion while you continue to learn and develop.

With optimism and dignity,

Your Former Self
