Q1 Sketchbook Growth

This collage shows my progress in the beginning of Art 1. In the top left and right were my 2 starting Sketchbook entries and they were low quality and messy, but I then learned shading and depth in Art, which helped my drawing become more sophisticated like the bottom left and right. Also, I developed my SMART goals of adding shading to my drawings which improved by a lot because I am now using it consistently looking at my current ones.

We learned that a still life is very abstract and realistic. The techniques for still life composition included shading and depth. The item I brought was a Louis Vuitton key chain because it was a gift from my Grandpa before he passed. My planning was focused mainly on the item I brought in and its surrounding and included a lanyard and soap bottle.

My object was a Louis Vuitton key chain. Techniques I applied were depth and shading because I had to make it realistic. What I learned from this project was that making realistic drawings isn't as hard as people make it. Critique and Rubric feedback results showed my strong areas as being good with shading and depth. and my areas to grow were that my lines were too thick. I revised my work by fixing these overly thick lines and also making my shading better.

watching and understanding Heather Hansen's work was a really fun activity that we did. Then, we scribbled in class using markers, crayons, colored pencils, or chalk. Then, we used sidewalk chalk outside. What I did was basically stretching with artistic tools. What I learned about artistic thinking was that art can be anything that you make it and that if you just use your mind, you can create so many great pieces.

I chose to create an image of a bunch of circles on a canvas that shows how I learned to use line weight to show different versions and pieces of line weight. The goal was to create a bunch of different sized and weighted circles. This was my first major art project of Art 1. Critique and rubric results showed my strong areas as being very colorful and very good use of line weight and my areas to grow were making the lines better and more sophisticated. I revised my work by fixing these lines that were messed up.

So far in Art 1 I have learned so much, from line weight, all the way to shading and depth. Not only have I learned much, but I also had fun doing it too! I really enjoy this class so far and i'm excited to learn more in the future in this course. My goals/ improvements for Q2 will be to excel in shading even more for sure.
