How strictly we should fill in the list? My vague idea is that the supervisor is the most important person, who I will talk to in a daily/weekly basis. But the exact role of his/her institution is hard to see in advance. The staff members may help in the financial and general management things, but it is not obvious which item on the list covers exactly which role.

Is this part mandatory? Does a measurement equipment count as one? Does the price matter (e.g. below 10.000 euro it is not significant) and whether the institute already has it or it is yet to be purchased?

Lets assume the project is some engineering problem: you build a model for a particular device, create simulations, build a prototype and verify your findings by measurements. The outcome may solve a problem, that makes development more cost-efficient, or behavioural prediction more accurate or the device more efficient. In this kind of project, I dont see the ethical aspects that I should detail. There are no targeted social groups, or children involved, or political consequences....except that companies who dont adapt to the new methods may fall behind in the competition.

Was wondering whether it is very important to have a similar (thematically) research topic from one's PhD/past projects and the new project at the host laboratory.

For example, does it matter if one shifts from topic A (PhD work) to B (where one has no/little past experience) within the same field (e.g., in neuroscience)?
