At the time in Zanzibar the education standard was not so great. As a result Freddie's parents sent him away to school in India . According to Freddie(Quote 2 pg. 37)."I was a precocious child, and my parents thought boarding school would do me good.so when I was about seven, I was put in one in India for a while .it was an upheaval of an upbringing, which seems to have worked, guess." This happened about the same time his parents were transferred for work to the island of Pemba. At the time they felt as if this was the best solution, and that this would take him to a place where he could study properly.

Brian May who was also in collage at the time liked the idea and joined forces with Freddie to create the band. Freddie is quoted saying(Quote 4 pg. 59) "The very earliest traces of the band go back to a group called smile. i used to follow Smile a lot, and we became friends. I used to go to their shows and they used to come to see mine." Freddie would tag along at jam sessions with the band and their singer Tim Staffell. Queen was getting ready for live shows in japan and Australia where their records and gigs were on fire. Their return to Britain saw them back in the studio to begin work on their fifth album to be produced by the band themselves, having parted amicably from Roy Thomas Baker. This next album would be entitled (A Day At The Races). Freddie was quoted saying (Quote #9 pg.158) " The album A Day At The Races ends with a Japanese thing a track from Brian called "Tep Torriatte" which means "let us cling together"it's a very emotional track, one of his best. Brian plays harmonium and some lovely guitar. it's a nice song to close the album."

(Quote 10 pg. 171 final Quote) Freddie is quoted saying I like Munich. I was there so long that after a while the people didn't even consider that I was around. I have a lot of friends over there and they know how I am, but they just treat me as another human being. And they've accepted me that way. and that to me is a very good way of relaxing I don't want to have to shut myself up and hide that's not what I want I'd go spare I'd go mad." The Munich scene was laid back and relaxed Freddie felt able to experiment openly without people headlining his every move another thrill for the whole band was that Munich's disco club scene was then in its heyday. so in general this time in Freddie's career was a time when he was able to explore places around him and have fun. as well as a place for his bandmates like Roger and Brian to settle down for a bit as they work on their new album.
