When we are looking at the piece "You say" by Lauren Daigle, the Subject happens to be herself. Lauren through out the song is trying to allow herself to be accepted by god.

The language that Lauren uses in the song can be meaningful to the listener. " You say i am strong, when i think i am weak.". This is a line from her song. This may be a line that people can relate to. Not only are the lyrics the thing setting the tone, the beat of the song is too. The music starts off very slow and mellow, then it gradually changes to more up beat and happy.

Throughout the song Lauren uses a lot of Ethos. She uses phrases such as " I believe " which is a form of Ethos because it is explaining how her mind is thinking. She is telling us that she believes in her own worth. In the beginning of the video Lauren is sitting on a couch next to a patio. The light is trying to shine through onto her, but she seems to be blocked by the wall. There is a moment where she stands up and says " “the only thing that matters now is what you think of me”. and the light begins to shine on her as she walks out from behind the wall.

In this song by Lauren Daigle there is two main appeals she uses. These two main appeals are Ethos and Pathos. There is not any Logos used in the making of this song.
Ethos - The song "You say" uses a technique called Ethos. This is the a technique that is used when the author is using a spirit of culture or a form of belief. She uses the phrase "I believe" throughout the song. Referring to god and her belief in him. The main point behind this song is for her to be able to find herself and take on a new perspective of life with god by her side. This is seen when she uses the lyrics such as "The only thing that matters now is everything You think of me." While listening to these lyrics you can hear that she is trying to block out everyone else opinion but the lords.

Pathos - The other technique that Lauren uses is Pathos. Pathos is used when an author is trying to appeal to ones emotions. The song "You say" may not appeals to everyone. This is because not everyone has a god they look up to. But if the listener is someone that does believe in god, there are many lyrics that could appeal to their emotions. for Example when the lyrics say "You say i am loved when i cant feel a thing. You say i am strong when i think i am weak. You say i am held when i am falling short. When i don't belong, Oh you say i am yours.". These lyrics could make the listener feel loved and wantee
