         <description><![CDATA[<div>mid 1500's - Europeans started moving africans to America as slaves.<br>early 1800's - Many Caucasians &amp; African Americans in northern states started to call for the abolition of slavery<br>1870 - African Americans had started their own churches &amp; schools, purchased land, and voted 22 African Americans into congress.<br>1877 - Northern troops left the southern states which allowed for southern states to impose Jim Crow laws which once again limited African American's rights.<br>mid 1920 - European immigration was cut due to strict new laws which created an industrial workforce shortage which allowed for African American's whom were still oppressed in the south to migrate north and take on the industrial jobs which greatly improved their quality of life.<br>Current Day - A select demographic of African Americans still feel they are oppressed to a degree by society. However, for the majority quality of life has skyrocketed in quality of life comparatively to the 20th century.</div>]]></description>
