Given a tangible item for discussion & providing sentence frames for all S to use and respond to make this smooth and keeps the conversation academic. As T walks around to hear discussions, they can get a feel for what the S already know about the topic & can immediately clear up misconceptions. Also, allowing S collaboration helps for the info to be processed and retained as opposed to hearing the T voice.

Front load questions about a topic via a fun quiz to see what S know and then teach the missing pieces. No need to say what they may already know! Has engaging activities & it can be anonymous or S names can be seen as class results are discussed.
