   The study I'll be covering is the BERNAMA Library and the Infolink Service or BLIS.BERNAMA Library and Infolink Service (BLIS) is a knowledge-rich and convenient research portal in Malaysia, providing access to news and relevant information. BLIS will provide answers to your urgent research needs from acronyms and accomplishments to sports records and speeches; from business and economic developments to news stories and government policies. Clients of BERNAMA Library and Infolink Service (BLIS) come from the various libraries of government and private organizations

   

   The Malaysian National News Agency, or BERNAMA, was established in 1967. BERNAMA Library coexisted with BERNAMA following the launch of the national news agency on 30 August 1967 under the Parliament Act 1967. It began operations on May 20, 1968, under the Department of Human Resources and Administration. BERNAMA creates and distributes news and information to paying subscribers via Newswire, which includes magazines, broadcasters, and websites.

 

   The two main collections are reading materials via ILMU, the library system; and more 

than 5 million pieces of news and information about Malaysia. BERNAMA News comprises news, 

reports, articles, special reports, and news focus/analysis in the following categories, namely, 

General News, Economic News, Features/Special Reports, Press Releases, Infographic and 

Advertorial. For reference and more choices of news, InfoLibNews archives news from local 

newspapers which are accessible through the Archival News Module. Information consists of 

the Who’s Who Module, a compilation of the profiles of important Malaysian personalities 

from various fields. Databank is a compilation of information that provide facts on diverse 

issues and events. Both modules extract information from Malaysian newspapers, 

BERNAMA’s wire reports and other authentic reading materials and websites. Our team’s role 

is to process and archive news and information about Malaysia and these modules can be 

accessed speedily by users and clients via BLIS. 

A digitalization project involving more than one million pieces of news is being undertaken to 

preserve our written national heritage. On top of the news and information provided, the 

Information Package Unit repackages the news and information by compiling information 

according to the needs daily. Three of the researchers are also attached to various 

editorial desks on a rotational basis. By providing these services, InfoLibNews is playing the 

necessary role of assisting the Editorial Department to produce quality news material for the 

benefit of the nation.

The Who's Who Module is a compilation of profiles of important Malaysian personalities from various fields. A databank is a collection of information that provides facts about various issues and events. Both modules gather data from Malaysian newspapers, BERNAMA wire reports, and other reliable reading materials and websites.

   Our team's role is to process and archive Malaysian news and information, and these modules can be accessed quickly by users and clients via BLIS. To preserve our written national heritage, a digitalization project involving over one million news articles is being undertaken. On top of the news and information provided, the Information Package Unit repackages the news and information daily by compiling information based on the needs. Three of the researchers are also assigned to different editorial desks on a rotating basis. By providing these services, Info Lib News is assisting the Editorial Department in producing quality news material for the benefit of the nation.

Compiling and processing reading material, news and information therefore can be 

accessed by BERNAMA staff and BLIS client:

    BLIS (abbreviated as Bernama Library and Info link Service) is an electronic library that provides various local information and news in Malaysia obtained by BERNAMA since 1968. This website was launched in 2001.

 

   BERNAMA Information and Library Center (Infolib) Manager, Hasnita Ibrahim stated that there are more than 3 million articles in the BLIS archive. Among them are the Department of Statistics, the Malaysian Institute of Economic Research (MIER), and the Economic Planning Unit (EPU) as well as more than 5,000 profiles of leading national figures. Important information such as speeches by Malaysian political figures, Sector Reports, Data Banks, Facts and Figures, Directories, and Calendars can also be accessed. BLIS can also be accessed through Factiva, Lexis Nexis, Financial Times, and ISI Emerging Markets.

 

   Customers are charged a subscription fee as low as RM 300 per month at the Tun Seri Lanang UKM Library. [citation needed] The subscription concept is similar to NSTP e-Media which also charges a fee to access its news archives such as Berita Harian and New Straits Times

 

   The current practise is to digitise the article, beginning with selecting, cutting, scanning, and indexing (title, subject, author, date, newspaper category, and product) and making it available through BLIS. Because this process takes time and space, BERNAMA obtains news in text format daily via FTP from The News Straits Times and Utusan Malaysia (from 1997 to the present). With this facility arrangement, BERNAMA can focus on digitising the millions of news cuttings compiled by subject files without worrying about copyright.

 

Digitizing collections will improve accessibility and preservation, preserving our written national heritage. Digitalization initiatives will also enable users to search collections quickly, efficiently, and comprehensively from any location at any time.

 

It was a significant challenge for InfoLibNews, as the custodian of the integrity and authenticity of our collections, which include the BERNAMA News and news from the main published newspaper, which is physically located at our premises, to make it virtually accessible. We are now in charge of managing and organising the nation's digital heritage for the current generation and future generations.

National Precision Tooling Sdn Bhd (NPT) is a special company that was set up by the government to be the main partner in the development of the Bumiputera Automotive Tool, Dies, and Moulds (TDM) Industry Project. The main goals of the TDM Project are to improve the Bumiputera automotive TDM industry clusters and to build up people's skills and abilities. The goal of these development programmes is to get more people involved in the TDM business, especially in the manufacturing sector. These programmes are the Equipment Acquisition Program (EAP), the Human Capital Development (HCD) Program, and the Technical Assistance Expert Attachment Program (TA-EP)

We offer calibration services and equipment maintenance for the electrical and electronic industries. Specialising in equipment calibration, equipment repair, on-site service, asset management, equipment health check, equipment rental, EOS/EOL equipment support, equipment database management and resource out source. The SIRIM Standards Technology, the SIRIM Measurement Technology, and the National Metrology Institute of Malaysia all offer these services.

 

Early work by UNESCO in the field of education included a pilot project on basic education in the Marbial Valley in Haiti, which began in 1947. After this project, experts went to other countries, such as Afghanistan in 1949, to help with other projects. In 1948, UNESCO said that all Member States should make primary education free and mandatory for all children. In 1990, the World Conference on Education for All was held in Jomtien, Thailand. This started a movement around the world to make sure that all children, teens, and adults get a basic education. Ten years later, at the 2000 World Education Forum in Dakar, Senegal, member governments agreed that everyone should have access to basic education by 2015.

 

In 1960, the Nubia Campaign was one of UNESCO's first cultural projects. The goal of the campaign was to move the Great Temple of Abu Simbel so that the Nile wouldn't flood it when the Aswan Dam was built. Over the course of the 20-year campaign, 22 monuments and buildings were moved. This was the first and biggest of a series of campaigns that included Mohenjo-daro (Pakistan), Fes (Morocco), Kathmandu (Nepal), Borobudur (Indonesia), and the Acropolis (Greece). Because of the organization's work on heritage, the Convention for the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage was signed in 1972. In 1976, the World Heritage Committee was created, and in 1978, the first sites were added to the World Heritage List. Since then, UNESCO member states have passed important laws about cultural heritage and diversity in 2003 (Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage) and 2005 (Convention on the Rights of the Child) (Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions).

 

At a meeting of UNESCO's member governments in Paris in December 1951, the European Council for Nuclear Research was created. This group was in charge of setting up the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) in 1954. Arid Zone programming, which ran from 1948 to 1966, is another example of an early major natural sciences project by UNESCO. In 1968, UNESCO held the first international conference to try to find a balance between the environment and development. This is a problem that is still being worked on in the field of sustainable development. The main thing that came out of the 1968 conference was the creation of the UNESCO programme called "Man and the Biosphere."

 

People say that UNESCO is responsible for the spread of national science bureaucracies. In the field of communication, "free flow of ideas by word and image" has been a part of UNESCO's charter since the beginning. This is because of what happened during the Second World War, when control of information was used to teach people to be aggressive. During the years right after World War II, most of the work went into rebuilding and figuring out what the world needed in terms of mass communication. In the 1950s, UNESCO began giving journalists training and education. In response to calls for a "New World Information and Communication Order" in the late 1970s, UNESCO set up the International Commission for the Study of Communication Problems, which produced the 1980 MacBride report, named for the Nobel Peace Prize winner who led the commission. In the same year, UNESCO made the International Programme for the Development of Communication (IPDC), which is a multilateral forum for helping developing countries improve their media. In 1991, the UNESCO General Conference approved the Windhoek Declaration on media independence and pluralism. This prompted the UN General Assembly to name May 3 as World Press Freedom Day, the day it was approved. The UNESCO/Guillermo Cano World Press Freedom Prize has been given out every 3 May since 1997. UNESCO started the Information for All Programme in preparation for the World Summit on the Information Society in 2003 (in Geneva) and 2005 (in Tunis).
