While I noticed I was lacking in Tier 2 versus Tier 1, I was pleased that I initiated online exams for my Algebra classes the last few years. While there are still growing pains with the process, it was so streamlined. I think that students really got used to the idea of online assessment and weren't afraid to try it out. They had instant results with their test as well.

I have not implemented this idea yet, but I would like to try using Google Sites as a way for students to create Choose-Your-Own-Adventure-like stories online. This could be done with any website builder, but students' possible familiarity with Google Sites makes me lean in that direction. I had envisioned this project as a paper-and-pencil assignment but never implemented it; I believe that digital tools would make it much more manageable from the students' perspective.

I post an infographic in Google Classroom and give students a chance to explore. Here's a site that has a lot of fun and interactive infographics.

I like to play checkers with my students as a review game. I ask them Geometry questions, and if they answer the question correctly, they get to make their teams move, if they are wrong, the other team gets to make their team's move for them. I couldn't do this process without using a presentation style checkerboard, and it has really seemed to hold the students' interest better than any other review I've tried.

One of a multitude of resources and materials through ULS provides leveled readers with corresponding comprehension questions. Before our tech upgrades, materials were printed out and done paper/pencil; now the students are highly motivated and eager to participate in the activities when it involves technology. It makes learning fun!

I teach 7th and 8th grade Spanish, and I use Quizlet for formative assessment. Students have a lot of choice in how they practice, and can see which terms or concepts they need more practice with. I can also see which things students need help with, and can tailor future practice based on the information. I pay about $25 per year, which gives me additional features, not available for free, and I find it well worth it. Quizlet adds new features periodically. Recent additions have been the Quizlet Live game which encourages teamwork (and which students LOVE), and Learn, which starts out easy, and gets more difficult as students get better with the material. Also, you can create and print a variety of "tests".

Something that my students struggle with is writing essays. Since there are 30 students in my ELA class, and only one of me, I created some screencasts for students to watch if needed that were centered around common questions (such as "how do I make a thesis statement"). Students who already knew what to do did not did to watch the videos and worked independently. Some students watched the videos and knew what to do. I helped students that were still stuck, which allowed me to give more individualized help during class time.

There are so many features that they are constantly adding that give you lots of options on how you would like to assess the students.

I wasted Soooooooooo much time as an educator creating graphics/worksheets/ materials etc using blunt tools like powerpoint and word. I used tools like canva and other online apps to create things that looked like things everyone else could make. I got frustrated when automatic settings messed with my format. I have since discovered the miracle that is Adobe. I think that educators can do themselves a favor by learning these apps: inDesign, ReaderDC Pro, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Lightroom. These apps can be used to create beautiful interactive products for students--graphics that can make things more accessbile, tables etc. Teaching students to use these tools--is an intro to graphic design and well worth the time. I use these tools daily to create student materials, and facility with these tools is an important 21st century skill.
