         <description><![CDATA[<div>The children brainstormed ways to write letters on pumpkins!  The tried markers, that wiped off, they tried pencil that just wouldn't show up, they tried crayons that slipped and slid all over the slippery surface of the pumpkin.  Then they tried creating letters with tape.  THAT they could see!  Then they painted over the tape, allowed the tape to dry, and peeled off the tape to create "white space".  Can you read what the letters spelled?  </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>As part of an October research project on pumpkins, the 4th-6th grade students were challenged to do some engineering at the end of each session. This particular week, I assigned the same catapult challenge that we did at the October PD. The challenge was to see who could fling 10 candy pumpkins the fastest and the farthest. They were given a cup of items that they could use, a sheet of directions, and a video example. For this challenge they worked in pairs. The competition was fierce!!!!</div>]]></description>
