I believe that Lincoln had the best plan for reconstruction. The 10% plan -- though perhaps overly lenient -- would've kept things peaceful and smooth. Retaining peace with the Confederates was paramount, especially after just having a Civil War with the group.

Lincoln. It's understable why the radical republicans were so opposed towards the south but Lincoln chose that 10% of the state needed to pledge allegiance. It was more peaceful and they were trying to make the union stronger rather than to punish them for going against the unions

It is comprehensible why the radical Republicans were so against the South, but Lincoln had chosen that only 10% of the state needed to pledge allegiance. This approach was considered more peaceful and aimed at strengthening the union rather than punishing the states for their opposition to the union.
