The Harlem renaissance occurred in a time when racism was still very present in the United states. Harlem was an environment in which the negro community came together and felt at home.

This shows how the city took him in and won over his heart. He felt at home in his city.

This means that the brief moment of acceptance he felt from the city was very rare to him.

I enjoyed this poem and I believe anyone would. It really shows what a great impact Harlem had on the lives of African Americans. Its a lovely poem not too difficult to understand that was written with lots of love and passion for the city of Harlem.
