In the autumn 5 million Germans were jobless. When hitler became the chancellor he acted quickly to take the rights of individuals away and destory democratic institutions.</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>I knew that the Germans had signed the Treaty of Versailles, and I knew what the consequences were. I can connect the fact that the Germans considered the people who signed the treaty traitors and my assumption that Germany felt guilty, ashamed, and wanted to retaliate because it all fits together. Also, I knew the Germans blamed the Jews, but I never knew exactly what for. Now, I know that Germans believed Jewish people controlled the German economy and were involved in an international conspiracy to dominate the world economy. This makes sense based on my previous knowledge.<br></strong><br></div>]]></description>

This challenges my thinking because it’s concerning to think that people who were against war were disliked. Also, the fact that Leo Baeck tried to help Jews even though he was Christian and had several chances to leave Germany before he was put in a concentration camp challenges my thinking because even though I know that he was a very good person for doing that, I’m wondering if I would’ve done the same in that situation.
