I can connect the fact that the Germans considered the people who signed the treaty traitors and my assumption that Germany felt guilty, ashamed, and wanted to retaliate because it all fits together. Also, I knew the Germans blamed the Jews, but I never knew exactly what for. Now, I know that Germans believed Jewish people controlled the German economy and were involved in an international conspiracy to dominate the world economy. This makes sense based on my previous knowledge.

One thing that challenged me from this timeline, was that not long after WW1 ended Adolf Hitler became the leader of Germany and already had plans to get revenge for the Treaty of Versailles and remove all Jews from German life. Also, Hitler thought that the Aryan race was surperior to all races, even though he wasn’t even Aryan , and he wanted to abolish all Jews just because of the way they looked.

The whole war was troubling to me. Several people going to great lengths and extension for basic needs and necessities. An assassin hired to kill a country leader. The fighting and killing innocent people. The deaths adding up. Everything was troubling.

Finally, I knew that when France, Britain, and the U.S. made the Treaty of Versailles they wanted to include precautions that would help prevent another war, but I didn’t know that all the nations had signed a pact that said they wouldn’t have another war and that they would work all disagreements out peacefully.

Something that challenges my thinking is that Rosa Luxemburg and Karl Liebknecht were imprisoned and later killed because of anti-war factions. This challenges my thinking because it’s concerning to think that people who were against war were disliked. Also, the fact that Leo Baeck tried to help Jews even though he was Christian and had several chances to leave Germany before he was put in a concentration camp challenges my thinking because even though I know that he was a very good person for doing that, I’m wondering if I would’ve done the same in that situation. Finally, it challenges my thinking to know that the U.S helped Germany by loaning money to them, then was in a war against them because that seems to contradict itself.
