(lowry 179) This shows the people have music and that means they got his memories and when it says ”the memories had fallen behind him now”. (lowry 175) this shows that he has lost some memories and the community has them now also when it says ”tried to remember sunshine and at first.

My claim is that Jonas and Gabriel will probably die by the time they get to the end of the mountain because they are surrounded by snow that is making them weak. In the text it says, “he hugged Gabe and rubbed him briskly, warming him to keep him alive (Lowry, pg 177)” This shows that Jonas was worried about Gabriel’s life because they were both cold and weak. Jonas also thought he heard music at the end of chapter 23. In the book it says, “he thought he heard music too, but perhaps it was only an echo. (Lowry, pg 179)” This shows that Jonas thinks he can now hear beyond like the giver described, but maybe he hadn’t. Maybe Jonas was too weak and was starting to hallucinate because of he and Gabriel’s weakness. Another thing that supports my claim is that Gabriel and Jonas might not have enough warmth to survive through the cold. In the book it also says, “on his knees, unable to rise, Jonas tried a second time. His consciousness grasped at a wisp of another warm memory, and tried desperately to hold it there, to enlarge it and pass it on to Gabriel. His spirits and strength lifted with momentary warmth and he stood. Again, Gabriel stirred against him as he began to climb… (Lowry, pg 176)” This shows that Jonas and Gabriel might not survive until they find enough warmth to share together and until they are strong enough to reach the bottom of the mountain filled with snow.

In the text it says “...This was something he could keep, a memory of his own…”. This shows that he made his own memory. Another evidence that supports this claim is “...But it was not a grasping of a thin and burdensome recollection…”. This shows that he was losing his memories, and only had little left.

At the end of the book JOnas runs away from the community and he take Gabriel with him. Jonas and the giver has made a plan to give all of the memories back to the people by breaking the force field. He wanted to give the memories back to all the people because they were killed babies that did not do anything to anyone. They were living life wrong they did not see color. He made them see color. Jonas wanted them to feel love. Jonas´s dad told him that the next morning Gab was going to get killed. So that night Jonas decided to leave that night at take Gab with him. I could support my answer because on page 163 it states,¨It would work. They could make it work, Jonas told himself again throughout the day.¨

Some themes in the Giver is sameness, people tell lies for no reason.I think that Jonas will go to the elders and have a discussion about the society and finally speak his mind. Also I think that he will go around and give out the memories that the giver has given him.He will give out the memories to the people of the society. Then think that he will get the giver involved but first he would have tried to persuade the giver to come and join his side that this society should be like the memories that Jonas.

I think that jonas and his community got affected by the elders keeping secrets for years about memories and feelings which at one point started to affect them because they were killing innocent people. My father killed it! Jonas said to himself, stunned at what he was realizing.

An claim about what had happened to Jonas and his community is that it is ambiguous, and it is ambiguous is because we really don’t know what had happened to him and his community because when the book was ending it had said “He forced his eyes open as they went downward, sliding, and all at once he could see lights,” my second piece of evidence is that it had said, “Suddenly he was aware with certainty and joy,” and last piece of evidence is that it said,”Behind him, across vast distances of space and time from the place he had left, he thought he heard music too. But perhaps it was only an echo,” this is showing that we don’t know what had happened to Jonas, Jonas had might of died, he might of have not or he was transferring his memories to the community so he could make the community better, and so it can also stop being so perfect and just to bring some light into the

He had trudged no more than a few yards through the night when it was gone and they were cold again.” pg. 176

Jonas dies, passes out, then his community is in chaos in ch 20, the Giver said “ “No.I have to stay.” The Giver said firmly. “I want to, Jonas, If I go with you, and together we take away all their protection from the memories,Jonas, the community well be left without anyone to help them. They’ll be thrown into chaos. They'll destroy themselves.” ”. Then for Jonas the book has details but not enough to make certain of only one ending. Ending one jonas dieing because of text in the book “He forced his eyes open as they went downward, downward, sliding, and all at once he could see lights, and he recognized them now. He knew they were the red, blue, and yellow lights that twinkled from trees in places where families created and kept memories, where they celebrated love.” this is a memories that the giver gave him and so that contributes to him dieing, then there's ending two of jonas passing out because of the third to last paragraph saying “ Jonas felt himself losing his consciousness and with his whole being willed himself to stay upright atop the sled, clutching Gabriel, keeping him safe.”. So that was my claim.

What happens to Jonas and his community at the end of the book is that Jonas’ memories are being release to the world , and he is losing those memories but keeping one. In the text it says “...This was something he could keep, a memory of his own…”. This shows that he made his own memory. Another evidence that supports this claim is “...But it was not a grasping of a thin and burdensome recollection…”. This shows that he was losing his memories, and only had little left. “Numbly his hands fumbled for the rope . . . Inside his freezing body his heart surged with hope”. This shows that he is dead and he got hope because he was leaving his body.

A claim about what happens to Jonas and his community at the end of the book is the community probably felt some of the memories, and Jonas probably felt He wanted to give the memories back to all the people because they were killed babies that did not do anything to anyone. They were living life wrong they did not see color. He made them see color. I think they were living life wrong because I said this because in the text the elders had to work there whole life and when they get released their really not being released there are going to die and I think that’s not right. In the text it said, “His father turned and opened the cupboard. He took out a syringe and a small bottle (149).” “Another piece of evidence from the Giver is, I know, I know. It hurts, little guy. But I have to use a vein, and the veins in your arms are too small (149).”
