         <description><![CDATA[<div>Variation is the range of characteristics across individuals of the same group. There is a lot of variation between different species, there is less variation within the species. Variation can be caused by either environmental or inherited characteristics. Inherited characteristics include natural hair colour, nose shape, face structure, facial features, blood type, eye colour, DNA. Environmental characteristics include dyed hair, weight, length of hair, freckles. Genetic variation is important because if every organism was exactly the same, the offspring of these organisms would get deficiencies. In addition, if a disease attacked a certain species and they were all the same genetically, the disease would attack them the same and they would all die out instead of just a few of them. Variation allows the process of natural selection, the produce of evolutionary change and enables species to change naturally and tosurvive.</div>]]></description>
