Starting in the 90's many hip hoppers enjoyed wearing baggy clothes. The looser fitting clothes, the better. Accessories that these artist wore included Lugz, bandanas, ski goggles, and if you had the hair for it, hair picks. The baggy clothing fad led hip hoppers into wearing windbreaker sweatsuits. Many were brightly colored and still very baggy. Later, The Notorious B.I.G. started the trend of Coogi sweaters. Some hip-hop styles from the 90's are even rocked now. Mary J. Blige made it a fad for women to wear mens clothing, like boyfriend jeans now. The 90's hip hoppers even started flannels. Hip hop influenced their people to wear overalls, Jordans, and Timberlands. Lastly, hip-hop even influenced jewelry. Tupac's nose ring made it cool for men to get facial piercings. 90's hip-hop had many different styles, some that are still worn today. The Native Tongues movement brought in the new concept of Hippie style to hip-hop.

http://green-label.com/sound/the-20-best-hip-hop-fashions-from-the-90s/s/timberland/

In the 80's tracksuits and neon leather jackets were very popular. People started wearing bucket hats and over sized sunglasses. Accessories showed off a lot of gold including chains, earrings, belts, and rings. Big and unique jewelry was often worn as well as tennis shoes and Adidas with fat laces. Different artist made certain trends and the style began to change from the disco era. People focused a lot on their hair and make-up. People wanted their hair to be as big as it could get. Women would make their hair big and frizzy and then some parted it to the side. Make-up was also a huge aspect of the 80's, women liked to express themselves with some color. For example, women experimented with blue mascara and yellow eye shadow. For men, hair was also important when dealing with fashion. Lots of men had something called a purm cut . Artists like Michael Jackson would wear skin tight leather pants with lots of belts and chains. This became a popular trend in the late 80's.
