Guangzhou, or also called Canton or Zayton, is a port city on the South China Sea which might be the oldest Chinese harbor for international trading. Guangzhou is a famous trade city that attracted merchants for its high demand goods such as ceramics, metalwork, and silk textiles. The city's merchants are divided into different communities which are based on their faith, language, and origins.

Between Kashgar and Guangzhou, there are no similarities, but there are some differences such as:

Guangzhou divides its people based on their background whereas Kashgar does not (Social).

Calicut (Indian Ocean)

Calicut is a famous port along the Indian Ocean trade route for its trades of spices and textiles. The city has a political history of being controlled by many rulers like Zamorin, but Zamorin turned into a independent city-state by the 14th century. Calicut's independence had managed to attract wealth as a result.

Between Muscat and Calicut, there is not much similarities and differences. The only similar thing between the two is that they both have a political history of being governed by many rulers (Political). The differences between the two is their trading goods (Economic).

Kilwa (Indian Ocean)

Kilwa, or also called Kilwa Kisiwani, is island off the east coast of Africa. The merchants in Kilwa trade luxury products that come from India, China, and Africa itself. Along the Zambezi river, you are able to trade the following goods: Gold, copper, iron, coconuts, ivory, rhino horns, porcelain, jewels, glassware, and cloth. These trades, alongside all the taxes, turned Kilwa into a wealthy city. Kilwa is a beautiful looking place that features stone houses made of coral which were made for the wealthiest citizens, and wooden houses made for the lower classes.

Between Jeddah and Kilwa, there is a few major differences and similarities. The only similar thing between the two cities is that their interaction with the environment is settled on coasts (Interaction). However, there are major differences such as:

The Silk Roads relied on Muscat for spices, textiles, timer, and other exotic eastern goods. The city has been controlled by many groups such as the Persians, Islam, Abbasid caliphs, and Portuguese.

Kashgar (Silk Road)

Kashgar is located in far western China somewhere along the Uygur region. The city produces and later on sells: Wheat or fruit based products, cotton, silk textiles, leatherwear, and pottery. Almost everything related to the Kashgar's economy is done alone. So all the goods and strategies the people of the city do is coming from the locals. Once the locals finish producing goods, the people end up selling it into their man-made largest and colorful market in the region.

Chittagong is known for being under the control of many kingdoms during different times. Chittagong is also known for directing sea trade with China as well as Indochinese and Indian merchants.

Jeddah (Silk Road)

Jeddah is a major port located on the western coast of the Arabian Peninsula. The port traded rice, spices, cottons, silks, perfumes, and metals. Jeddah is for having strong political power. With the power, Jeddah was able to benefit from trading relationships and repelled attacks from the Portuguese.

Yazd (Silk Road)

Yazd is the largest and remarkable port in its region. The only trade good the city offered was its fine silks. The city developed its own irrigation system and had a very stable education. This was able to increase Yazd's economy. The city is known for its independent religion: Zoroastrianism (a religion that sees the world as contest between goods and evil).

Between Yazd and Chittagong, there are no similarities at all but there are some differences. Those differences include:

Yazd developed a irrigation system whereas Chittagong did not (Interaction).
Yazd has its own type of religion whereas Chittagong does not follow (Culture).
Chittagong has been governed by many rulers throughout time whereas Yazd has not (Political).
