This book encourages pride within African Americans. It celebrates the differences every person has.The lesson I would teach my kids with this book is to be proud of who they are and what they look like because everybody is beautiful. I like the delivery of this book, because it is short but full of impact.

The book is about the two pioneers of bebop. Because I feel that this book is overly extensive I do not recommend reading the whole book to children. I would rather read portions of it to get lessons from the book. We can teach our kids that with teamwork we can accomplish many things.

The book follows a female artist in a time where females were not artist. One lesson I would teach from this book is her perseverance. Also, she remained unique and true to herself. It would have been easy for her to conform to society's rules. I find this book to inspire patriotism within the reader. I would use this book to teach the history of the United States of America's flag and also what it stands for. I would recommend this book for emergent readers because the context is simple.

This book is A book of a musician coming from a long line of musicians. After Johann Bach put his mind to it, he finally could create a unique sound. I would use this as a lesson to my students. I would teach them that they can accomplish anything that they set their mind to. This book would also be a good tool to practice the hard sounding consonant blend -CH

This book is a story of the night Paul Revere warned the colonies of the arrival of the British. I could use this book to incorporate history into a read aloud. The comprehension level for this book is mature but it is a great nonfiction picture book.

This book highlights some of the best jazz musicians in history with a clever rhyme scheme and keeps readers interested with emotion.
I would entertain children with this book and get them excited about art and music. I recommend this book for early readers because of the rhyme scheme.

Although this story content may be too mature for younger ages, I do believe 4th and 5th graders would enjoy this book. This book has an emotional turn when Emmanuel's mother gets sick and dies. I think this part may be too emotional for younger readers. When odds are stacked against you, you must work hard and never quit. Things were not easy for Emmanuel, but with time and persistence, he reached his ultimate goal. This book demonstrates that not everyone will believe in you, but as long as you believe in you, the sky is the limit.

We examine the child point of view of watching Martin Luther King Jr in this book. We see what it is like to watch history be made, but be described as a child is watching.I would use this book to teach a child about how interference in culture or society should not hold you
back. This is a book I could read with younger readers to show point of view.

This is a story of how Michael Jordan began. As a kid he had to compete with his better brother Larry. Just because you may not be the best, keep practicing. If you believe in yourself, it doesn't matter what anybody else thinks. This book teaches a lesson of overcoming adversity. I would read this book with an older audience because of the word content.

This book tells Phillipe Petit's story of him being an arielist. He walked on a tight rope in between the twin towers in 1974. Of course a story of a tight rope walker walking between two towers is pretty exciting, but their are other great aspects of this book. I like this book because it commemorates the twin towers and briefly mentions how we remember it.
