1. Something I think that was successful about my piece is how I incorporated my portrait into my collage. I was worried before of it coming out too small or too disfigured

1.) I think what was successful in my piece was the hair. It was my first time trying hair so I didn’t expect it to turn out decent. I like how I showed the shine and waves/curls in my hair.
2.) Something that I would change is the collage. Even though it is interacting with my portrait with the thought bubble, butterflies, and flowers, I would’ve liked  for it to interact with the facial features more but didn’t know how to.   1. Something I think is successful about my piece is my hair. Drawing hair in general is very difficult but I think the final product didn't come out so bad, you can see the shine and the ringlets which is something I didn't think I could do. 
  2. Something i struggled with/wish i had done differently/would redo about my piece is the collage. I should've been a little more careful when glueing/taping my collage pieces because now there’s some bumps that really bother me. I also feel that my college seems very empty so maybe i would construct the two sketchbook pages into a more squared shape.

1.  I think the hair was successful because it sort of takes the form of small water waves/ripples which I found fitting for the theme of the piece. 
2. I wish I had been able to better present the koi on the jean side but it was pretty difficult to work on jeans and that is why I ended up using cut out sketchbook and colored paper.

  1. Something I think that was successful about my piece is the collage part I did for her jacket. I wanted to be similar to the photo I was references and to have something bright that would stand out. 
  2. Something I wish I had done differently was the background. I tired to find my  cousin favorite colors or what was close them and I feel the background is too dark. What I would try to do differently would be either to find another way to use those colors or just use brighter colors.

  1. I think I did well with the hands. I worked really hard on getting the tiny details of the hands as well as the correct value. I think one hand looks better than the other but overall they're not terrible.

2.) something that I would fix is the book. I also incorporated the hands as negative space where there was no watercolor.  
1. Something that I thought that came out successful was the washes of the solar system and the control of water.
2. Something that I could fix is to plan out the hands (draw lightly) on the paper before I started painting, so I don't have to paste another paper on to a paper. I think there isn’t much difference compared to the reference photo that I used. 2) However, I think what I can improve on or fix is the values in my hair. I was really inspired by them and I wanted to showcase the point in the negative space project that it is about blending in. I also wanted to show how expressive the eyes and eyebrows are. In the pandemic this is how everyone looks like and communicates. The white space is the outline of the figure. The blue acrylic paint background and burqa are the same to show blending in and emphasize the negative space.
1. Something that I did well is the burqa and concepts overall. The negative space is purposeful and the figure is accurate.
2. Something I would change is making the eyes pop out more. I decided to use sharpie to draw the character as it was easier to make a mark on the materials I used. For my collage materials, I cut patterns and colors out of pages of magazines. I used tissue paper to attempt to show flow because they are more flexible and soft. And I also ripped pieces of tinfoil chocolate wrappers to give the piece more shine and sparkle. I also cut out the flowers from the pattern on a tissue box. I tried to keep the materials thin and horizontal to suggest the flow created by the character. 
1) Something I think was, at least a little bit, successful was how I constructed the witch and dress and hat. I felt like I could easily fit pieces together and I think they stand out against the background.

2. Something that I would change is maybe using a material more easier to work with like construction paper.
