Graffiti is illegal in the UK which makes what Bansky does a little risky. Since it is usually on a wall somewhere, people are able to see his work and interpret it. Graffiti is a good way of getting what you want to say across to other people, especially if it is not in a typical place like an ally way.

The Mobile Lovers painting was painted on a wall of a Boys Club in Bristol UK. The painting shows a man and a woman that are in love, but are completely distracted by their phones. They are staring into what is perceived as iPhones, which are the more popular cell phones throughout society. The painting gets lighter as the painting goes up to the peoples faces as the phones are lighting them up. This painting can show how electronics have brainwashed our community and that people can't keep their eyes off them.

Many know about Banksy's popular street art, however have no clue who he really is. The artists identity remains unknown but it is believed that Banksy was born in Bristol, England around 1974 - according to 'Biography.com Editors'. Due to the uncertainty of the artists identity makes each artwork that much more appealing, as there is no one to discuss the true meaning of the artwork , forcing the public to come up with their own. Banksy's artwork is often characterized by striking images, often combined with slogans which in most cases highlights political themes, greed, warfare, and just about everything practiced in today's culture.

The Artwork: Mobile Lovers

The artwork by Bansky, titled Mobile Lovers depicts two people, specifically a male and a female. Where the two are seen in each others arms as if they are about to kiss. It seems as if the couple are looking directly in each others eyes intimately, however, the two lovers faces are just an obstruction to what they are actually looking at - their phones. This is depicted by the light shinning on the individuals faces reflected by their mobile devices. Which shows the meaning behind the work of art. Which is; that in today's society we are so distracted by our cellular devices that we don't pay specific attention to the ones we love most, as if we are looking straight through them to rather spend time on our devices. The meaning behind the work could vary depending of the way you see it and this I believe, is what the artist values most through creating this piece of art. The work is generally focused to society at large, which further elaborates the setting of the work meant for everyone to see and think about this affected problem which we all have. The medium of the work is spray paint, also known as graffiti, done on a piece of wood, placed on a doorway in front of the council on the streets of Bristol, England. This further contributes to the meaning of the artwork as it is now mainly aiming towards the council who's job is to manage the city, bringing light to the main problem society is facing - the addiction of ones cellular device.

The artist was effective in he was trying to express. Even though the artwork wasn't placed in multiple places or a big area for people to see. It still made its way onto the internet so everyone can see it. This is kind of ironic because the painting is supposed to depict how the internet and smartphones have an effect on society. There are a lot of Bansky exhibits around the world where you can see his work on a canvas or a replica of his work. Banksy's work is well known around the world and people are always trying to make money off of it which is not the intent. When one of his paintings sold at auction he shredded it. He placed a paper shredder in it as a prank. Since this the art piece has doubled in price. This shows how the world is so focused on making a profit that they don't realize the real meaning of the art. Maybe next time, Banksy should do a painting on that.

One of the weaknesses is the location of this art piece. It was placed on a random wall in England and once Bansky posted that he had done it, it took 24 plus hours for his fans to find it. Since Bansky's work is so hyped up, some people just want to find it to say they've seen it. A lot of people don't understand what some of his art means or what he i doing it for. People just want to extract it off of what it is placed on (like a wall) and sell it for a large amount of money. Lastly, this painting ended up being a financial aid for the Boys Club which the wall was owned by. This was not its original intent, but Banksy allowed it.
