Course Related

• Please ensure to read through Module Information Booklet for this course to be aware of the contents, requirements and assessments for this course. 

• Please be aware of your timetable.

• The course has two components: Lecture-Tutorial and Practical. Please attend your allocated class.

• Unfortunately, due to room capacity reasons, it is best for you to attend your allocated class. We will not be able to cater if you want to change your timetable, unless it is with prior approval from the Academic Heads.

Lecture-Tutorial

• A set of instructions to prepare you for the requirements of the course is available weekly.

• Please ensure that you access the "My Preparation" tile on our Moodle course site, finish the required readings and come in prepared for class.

Practical

• You should receive an email invitation for your NetAcad Account Access. Go to netacad.com

• I have attached an Instructions section in this email on how to activate your account. Please ensure that you read this, as this is a requirement for you to access the course and also the Packet Tracer software application for your practicals. 

• NOTE: It is IMPORTANT that you are able to accomplish this by this week.

• The instructions are also available in your Cisco Netacad Resources tile, just below. 

• If you want to install the Packet Tracer file on your own device, please use the version uploaded on our Moodle website.

This week we concentrate on the Transport layer of the OSI model and how TCP and UDP work.

This week we shall discuss some final considerations about building a small Network including traffic management, redundancy, device selection as well as security and threats to a network.
