         <description><![CDATA[<div>1.&nbsp;<strong>What do animals need?<br>- </strong>In&nbsp; this lesson, the teacher will bring in several animal care items such as food, water, leash, collar, cage, toys, medication, grooming items etc. The items will not be shown until later in the lesson.<br>- The teacher will ask students, “What do you think animals need?” Do they need similar things as humans? What are some things that we need, as humans, but are not required for us to live? All of these questions are pre-lesson questions to get students thinking about what animals need.&nbsp;<br><br>2. Students will create a Glogster or digital poster of pets and their needs. Students will pick a pet and include 4-5 items that a particular pet needs.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>3. Students will get on the job training and experience with various types of animals and their behaviors. Students will feed, walk, and give water to animals.&nbsp;</li><li>Students will post a photo of a pet that needs a home on Instagram or Facebook. Students will use their technology skills to create a flyer to post on social media and/or hang around in the neighborhood such as coffee shops, shelters,local businesses and other areas around town to raise awareness about the animal who needs to be adopted.<br><br></li></ol><div>3.          <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Engagements:</strong></div><ol><li>&nbsp;Students could start an Animal Appreciation and Debate Club. Students could start a club about animal awareness. They could have a weekly or bi-weekly meeting to discuss animal issues and animal rights. They could also invite people such as science teachers and other people who are passionate about animals to speak. Kids can have debates on and about various animals, their rights, their love, their responsibility and kindness.</li><li>Students will complete a hands on activity, called Sharing Sam. The story will be told, by the teacher and the kids will be interacting and acting the story out by using a felt board, with Sam (dog) and his family. Through this lesson will teach students how caring for others and caring for pets in important. It will also explain how pets are dependent on humans which require responsibility and compassion.</li><li>Students will participate in activity to experience what it is like to have a seeing eye dog. Students will pair up with each other and lead the other person in several commands to get to the other side to meet their partner.&nbsp;</li></ol>]]></description>
