Advantage: It is a very successful way to gauge how the children think they are doing in the classroom with each subject.
Disadvantage: The children could potentially lie about their academic successes and the teacher may not really know how they truly are doing with the content.

This specific lesson plan allows the children the opportunity to use each individual sense in a way that they don't normally complete.
Advantage: This lesson lead into a lot of different lessons on adjectives and describing words.
Disadvantage: For the upper elementary grades it could be a little too simple, however, for younger grades it would have to be a whole class discussion because it might be a little too difficult.

With that being said, I feel that with the proper guidance and group placement, being able to correct others is a very valuable lesson.
Advantage: Allows the teacher to guide and monitor each group rather than grading each individual paper one at a time. In addition to that, it also gives the students an opportunity to read others work and learn more about their peers.
Disadvantage: Could become a little time consuming depending on how each student is doing, however, it could also make some students feel a little self-conscious about their writing.

Running Records are an incredible way for teachers to gauge the progress of the students while also taking notes on what is really working versus what could be changed.
Advantages: The teacher is the only one keeping score which cuts down on any variations in grading.
Disadvantages: Requires an individual one-on-one check in with the students which is time consuming, however, much better for the children in the long run.

With that being said, this specific lesson kind of works off of our shades of meaning activity from class. Each of the different shades has a different set of rhyming words which could be done as a whole class or each child could take on a different entire color.
Advantage: Allows for a handful of different approaches either individually, whole class, or as small groups.
Disadvantages: Would require quite a bit of guidance which is fine, however, it would also require some individuality so that each child or group isn't using the same word endings.

With that being said, this story board encourages the children to act out each letter falling from the tree. When they watch the letters fall a stronger bond between the sound the make and and actual letter is created in the child's head.
Advantage: The children would have a sense of belonging when provided their very own letter to act out with.
Disadvantage: The supplies and materials would not be provided which would be kind of a lot of work to do before the lesson but definitely worth it.

The idea of think, pair, and share gives the children more confidence to speak in front of the classroom because for a lot of children they have the right answer but are too scared to be wrong in front of the classroom.
Advantage: Creates more confidence in the classroom while also allowing the children an opportunity to bounce ideas off of each other. The children could even try to teach concepts that they understand to those that are struggling.
Disadvantage: You can't really gauge the class as a whole because it would take too long to allow each child an opportunity to answer the question.

This version of a word wall is a little bit more space friendly because it allows for it to be much closer to the ground and also take up a ton less space. Also holding the children accountable for keeping it neat and finding the words on their own.
Advantages: The children being able to shuffle through and find the words on their own is a great way for them to sound each word out. Getting up and finding them on their own will also promote a quicker understanding because they won't want to keep getting up.
Disadvantages: With the children using it and touching it on a daily basis, it might not last nearly as long as more predictable Word Walls.

This allows them an opportunity to work on public speaking but only on topics that they care about or that directly revolve around them. This specific template allows the children to talk about and fill out the things that matter most to them.
Advantage: Could use it as a reward at a certain point in the semester or for doing a certain amount of things correctly.
Disadvantage: With the exception of confidence and self-esteem with public speaking, it doesn't really serve much of an educational purpose.

Allowing one object to take their attention for multiple days is a great way to hold a constant place in the schedule which promotes stability for the students.
Advantages: There are so many accommodations for this lesson that could help with students that are struggling, may have IEP's or those that are excelling with language in general.
Disadvantage: This lesson solely relies on the pumpkin which could only be bad if something happened to it or if the pumpkin began to rot.
