We did our group chat right after class on Friday, It was supposed to be DOGL but that did not happen. Anyways, Laurie was on her way to Detroit, so Candace's Chicago guess was close. We discussed the weather, the stress, and the discussion question. I said that it was important to create a safe for multilingual students because it's not always easy for them to jump into an ongoing discussion. It's very intimidating to speak a second language amongst people who confidently are able to express their ideas. Multilingual students sometimes feel like a burden because of the time and effort it takes for them to get their ideas together, so they choose not to speak at all. Jayne and Clavel also agreed with me and expanded on the idea stating that multilingual students are oftentimes shy when it comes to discussions and the expression of ideas. We took a little break to take our group photos. We also ended a little early so everyone could go out and enjoy this self-declared pre-DOGL evening.

It was really nice to listed to Ro opinions about the topic. I think that it is important to acknowledge that sometimes t can be difficult to jump in conversations, that some of us need time to think what to say and the participate. the conversation about DOGL was interesting and seeing that Laurie was in her way to Detroit was also nice.

It was nice to see that everyone was outside enjoying the sun for class on Friday. If I wasn’t in a bus I would have went to class outside for sure. I don’t know, just seeing everybody talking live outside gave me good vibes, it seemed so ‘alive’. So we talked a bit about DOGL and many were disappointed it wasn’t on Friday and I felt sorry for everyone. After talking about campus stuff we got to the forum question and exchanged our answers. I personally said that to me, being a good peer to a multilingual student means being patient and understanding. Language learning is not a competition and it takes a lot of time and effort to master another language. So instead of showing someone how good you are at learning languages, I think you should just appreciate and recognize the effort they made to get here in their learning experience !

We started our discussion by checking in on how everyone is doing. We discussed how multilingualism affects students' participation in the classroom. We agreed that patience and understanding from the teachers are the best way to make multilingual students comfortable. It was great to hear everyone’s thoughts and experiences on multilingualism.

After finishing class, It was really nice to see my teammates (at least online again) and discuss about how their days were going on and talking about the excitement they had for the DOGL day. Moreover, I coundn't share as much as I would have wisched the points and thoughts I had in mind about the relation between multilingualism and students in a academic environment since I was clarifying and receinving some feedback on my argumentive topic from Candace, however I strongly believe that, as future language professor, being in student;s shoes throughtout their second or more language learning is really important, immediately the phrase that came to my mind was "language vagueness, that is, to allow students to make mistakes while learning a second language because it is basically a natural phenomenon and try to help them in the most attentive and empatic way to improve everyday since, even thought it does not seem sometimes, as teachers we underwent the same learning process.
