The earth is split in half by the equator. The half of earth with the north pole is called the northern Hemisphere. The half of earth with the south pole is called the southern hemisphere. The earth is tilted on a 23 ½ inch axis. The earth spins on an axis every 24 hours. When the northern hemisphere is turned towards the sun it is probably June, the days will be longer than 12 hours. This would be called summer time. Six months after June the earth would only be half of its orbit around the sun which would make it December. The northern hemisphere is now facing away from the sun. When there is more darkness on the northern hemisphere, the days will be shorter and the nights will be longer so this would be winter time.

While the bottom half of the equator is called the Southern hemisphere. The Earth is tilted at a 23.5-degree angle causing seasons. During the summer the Northern hemisphere is facing the sun causing the days to last longer and the nights to be shorter.

When the Earth rotates halfway around the sun where the Southern hemisphere is facing the sun, it causes winter. Because the Southern hemisphere is facing the sun and the Northern isn't this causes the days to be shorter and the nights to be longer. That is everything I had learned while watching the video.

Group 6, Video: "Why the Days are shorter in Winter and Longer in Summer.

What I have learned: I've learned that our planet, Earth, is different from other planets other than just being able to hold life on it, it is able has climates because of it's tilt or the angle it obtains while it revolves around the Sun. This tilt plays an important role in determining climate because this tilt helps some parts of the world, or more specifically a hemisphere, get more direct sunlight, which means that this hemisphere more likely has Summer. And, since the sun is more direct in that area, that means that the hemisphere's days will become longer and their nights will become much more shorter. On the other hand, the hemisphere that has less direct sunlight because of the Earth's tilt, mostly likely has Winter, meaning that their days will be much shorter while their nights will become longer because of the less direct sunlight. Because, of the Earth's rotation on the Sun, these seasons will change, and each hemisphere will experience another type of season depending on how much sunlight is direct towards them. Spring & Fall occur when the sunlight is evenly direct on both hemispheres which is why it isn't too hot or too cold, and the days are evenly the same as the length of the nights. That is what I have learned while watching the video.

For example it talks about if the southern hemisphere was tilted forward it was warmer there than it is in the northern hemisphere. But in Spring and Fall on either hemisphere the earth does not tilt at all, the two sides get equal amount of sun. Also if it is summer in the northern hemisphere then it will tilt forward and the southern part of the world will be tilted back. This happens because of how far heat can travel from the sun to the earth so it one part is tilted closer to the sun then it gets more heat than the other because it is tilted back.

What I learned was, earth orbits the sun and it takes a whole year to complete the full orbit. As earth orbits towards sun we move towards spring and so on. Sunlight shines differently onto earth as time passes. Earth stays tilted the same direction except sometimes on the other side of our orbit. Because of earths tilted the seasons are not reversed. The earth spins axis is tilted to its orbital plane, that is what causes seasons.

I learned that the sun and titlt of the earth causes seasons. For example since the sun is 23.5 degrees away from being perpendicular it has an obvious tilt and the sunlight that shines on it widens because of the tilt. The sunlight hits the Earth in an angle where some parts could be closer to the sun but still be in winter and not have sunlight because our Earth is tilted and it stretches out the light from the sun in a way that causes the yearly shift of seasons.

For example in December and January, the northern hemisphere will have winter whereas the southern hemisphere will have summer. The same is a applied vice versa in July to August. In between late March and early April, both hemispheres experience equal days and night. This also happens in winter months. In spring, all life increases productivity which causes continents to look greener. In winter, there is a lack of sunlight which causes the plant life to photosynthesize less and productivity decreases.

The earth is separated into to halves by a invisible line called the equator between the equator and the North Pole is called the northern hemisphere while the half of earth that is between the equator and the South Pole is called the southern hemisphere there is another invisible line that runs through the earth from the North Pole to the South Pole and that is called the Earth's axis the Earth rotates or spins on this axis and it makes a full rotation every 24 hours. Day and night is caused by half of the earth that is facing the sun is illuminated by the sun's light and in that half it's daytime the half of the sun is facing away from the sun is in darkness and it is nighttime in that half. The earth is tilted to 23.3 degrees because of that the northern hemisphere is pointed towards the sun and the northern hemisphere is not always pointed towards the Sun zone because the earth also revolves around the Sun it takes one year or twelve months to complete one full orbit.

video: Why the Days are Shorter in Winter and Longer in Summer

I have learned that there are different seasons becuase the earth is revolving around the sun on an axis 23.5 dagrees. Because of the earths tilt the southern and northern hemisphere are affected. When its winter for the northern hemisphere the days are shorter and the sun rises late and sets early its becuase the sun rays hit less directly. Although while in the northern hemisphere its winter in the southern hemisphere its summer and the days are longer and hotter. Around a certian time we switch from winter to summer and summer to winter its called a solstice its happens around june 21st and december 22.

Video- Bill Nye explains Seasons.

With the video I have learned how seasons work. The earths axis is tilted that's the reason for the seasons. For example. When the part of the earth that we are on is tilted toward the sun its summertime , and its winter time on the other side of the earth. Another thing I learned is that its never going to be the same season around the world because if its spring here it will always be the opposite on the other side of the world. The last thing I learned is that the side that is more tilted to the sun gets more energy and that's how its summer while the other side get less energy which means its winter. This is what I learned from the video Bill Nye explains Seasons.

A different times of the year the rays of the Sun in different parts of the Earth. The Earth's axis tilts to the northern hemisphere during the summer. The same happens to the earth when is winter. When it's spring the Earth is either tilted close or away from the Sun. This is when the days become the same length For Earth.

What I learned from the video why we have seasons is that seasons happen because the Earth's spins on its axis, of an angle of about 23 1/2 degrees. When the Earth goes around the sun one time every 365.25 days this axial tilt or obliquity. Which changes the exposure to the sun's radiation that is different from different parts of the of the Earth's experience. Lastly what I learned is that a lot of people think that the hemisphere that is closer to the sun is not the hottest.

The seasons are caused by the tilt of the Earth's rotational axis away or toward the sun as it travels through its year-long path around the sun.The tilt in Earth’s axis is strongly influenced by the way mass is distributed over the planet. The Earth has a tilt of 23.5 degrees relative to the the surface formed by it's almost-circular path around the sun. The tilt toward the sun is maximized during Northern Hemisphere summer in late June the summer solstice. At this time, the amount of sunlight reaching the Northern Hemisphere is at a maximum. the Earth's tilt away from the sun is maximized, leading to a minimum of sunlight reaching the Northern Hemisphere. The seasons, of course, are reversed in the Southern Hemisphere.
