         <description><![CDATA[<div><br>In Richmond, the Household Exposure Study found over 50% of homes tested to have indoor air levels of particulate matter above California’s ambient air quality standard. According to National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, the cause of asthma is known as “ hygiene hypothesis” (NHLBI, 2020).          <description><![CDATA[<div><br>The rate of childhood hospitalization for asthma in San Pablo (41.2 per 10,000) is more than double that of the overall county rate (17.0 per 10,000). Richmond’s rate (30.5 per 10,000) is nearly double the county. The boys had 657 asthma hospitalization while girls had 364 of asthma hospitalization.          <description><![CDATA[<ul><li>Each family will attend 2 hours workshop once a week for a total of 52 weeks</li><li>About 30 families will attend the workshop therefore each family will attend a total of 104 hours</li><li>Parents who are community outreach workers must attend the mandatory meeting twice a month for 52 weeks</li><li>A local pest control company will come to the 30 minutes workshop to teach families about how to determine when the home is at risk for an unhealthy environment.</li><li>Families will have a chance to sign up for free pest control activity at home.</li><li>With the homes that are more exposed than others, our program will provide free ventilation inside the home.</li><li>In one-hour workshop families and children will participate in hands-on activities like drawing, crafting, and learning what are the risk factors when an asthma attack happens.</li><li>Each workshop families will receive a least 2 boxes of N95 mask that will last them a least 3-4 weeks supply.</li><li>Community outreach parents will hand out flyers, and posters in the community.</li></ul><div><br></div><div><br></div>]]></description>
