First, the rice paddy needs to be cleaned, as it contains foreign objects when it arrives at the mill. Brown rice is made by removing the husk from rough paddy rice, and the husk is removed by friction. After the rice gets dehusked, the husk is removed using suction and moved to a dump outside of the mill. Then, the paddies are separated by unhusked paddy rice and brown rice.

Brown rice is vacuum packed into mylar or plastic bags, and then put in boxes to make for better shelf appeal.
