One effect was the founding of the Gulf. It helped explorers and travellers get to and from the new world. Jamestown’s creation helped people travel through and give resources. The second effect was that Ponce de Leon discovered Florida. He went back a second time to try to help a settlement in Florida. John Smith was the guy who helped create Jamestown. One effect was new settlements were made in Florida because of Ponce de Leon. John Smith helped create Jamestown with new settlements and formed it into a city. These both helped North America grow into what it is now.

One other effect was that when Ponce went to Puerto Rico he went for the purpose of gold. He found gold and many many more resources for his country John Smith went to Jamestown to create a new city and development for his country. The gold helped both their countries thrive and become more glorious.

-GLORY-
After exploring Puerto Rico he liked the thought of exploring more and getting the attention. He said his main quest was to find the fountain but he was also the first European to land in that area. After landing on Florida (at the time he thought it was an island, not attached to North America) he named it “Florida” because of the beautiful plants and landscape. He heard of the fountain from some Native Americans from Bimini.

-Left Behind-
After Ponce discovered Florida he went back home for a couple years. His settlement was still set up. Ponce then two years later went back to Florida and set up more to create a colony. He left new resources in Florida. Some things he brought include cattle, oranges and settlers.
-Impact-

This impacted the growth of Florida because of the cattle, settlers and oranges. The settlers started everything. The cattle impacted the farming and resources. Oranges were just another food.
-Connection-

This impacts today because if he never would have left the settlers Florida wouldn’t even be called Florida. So much would have been different.

-Took-
Ponce went to Puerto Rico for the purpose of finding gold. His trip was a success. He came back with loads and loads of gold. In Puerto Rico he found new livestock, resources and food to trade back at his home country.
-Impact-
This impacted Europe because the gold furthered Europe's riches and glory. Ponce’s findings caused him to be declared governor and Puerto Rico. This also increased Europe's glory and power. From the new livestock findings, he gained glory from trading and introducing new things. His Journey to Florida helped in many ways. Ponce claimed land for the Europeans and found new resources and foods. When he first settled in Florida he took many and many slaves to help with labor. If this never happened he wouldn’t have been able to make Florida thrive and grow.
-Connection-
Today there is now a place in Florida called St Augustine. Now it is a beautiful city. If he never landed here this wouldn’t be as amazing as it is today. If Florida was never discovered so many things would be different. When he found the gulf that helped many future explorers. The gulf provided as a good harbor for the ships to stay while the crew and leaders go on the land and explore. The new livestock and foods introduced from Puerto Rico helped all of the tradings begin.

One effect of colonization is more people. As more people are brought to a place they can reproduce and continue a livable and growing colony. In Florida Ponce brought over around 200 settlers the first trip. The second time he brought even more people with. This helped Florida grow into a colony. Like the Florida settlement, Jamestown brought over settlers. But unlike Florida's settlement, there were only around 105 settlers brought over. Another effect of colonization is an introduction of new foods. Almost every time a new place is found it also introduces new foods. For example, Ponce shared with the native's cattle and some of their foods. The natives introduced them to new foods like crops. The Jamestown colony traded with many Native Americans for their foods as well. This overall would help each other with living. Even though there were many positive effects there were also some negatives. One major negative effect was the fighting between natives and the people coming to their land. The natives attacked the second time Ponce went back. Even though they would trade together the Natives were not happy with them invading their land. This lead to Ponce getting shot in the leg with an arrow and having to sail to Cuba where he died. John Smith also had many troubles with the Natives. They were all attacked multiple times. Often, members of the new colony that would go adventuring would be killed by the Natives as well. This generally is not a good thing. Not only did many people die but goods were taken as well. Another reason a lot of fights were caused for Ponce was that he took in slaves. Ponce was mainly kind to the Native’s yet that didn’t stop him from taking some people to help with labor. John and his people did not take many slaves if any and more relied on creating a trading agreement with them.
