What affected me more in this video is the idea that even with three simple notes, you can create engaging and intricate melodies. Music doesn’t have to be overly complex to be impactful. Rhythm is a powerful tool that can shape the mood and energy of a piece.

This video introduces an easy and visual way to memorize pentatonic and blues scales using chord shapes, which I find is very helpful to me. Starting from familiar chord foundations like major and minor triads speeds up understanding.

What stood out to me the most was how the pentatonic scale is come from simplifying the major scale, and how adding blue notes transforms it into a blues scale.

I like how the Lydian mode feels bright and uplifting because of its sharp 4th. It works well in movie music.

I am working on keeping good timing and using my fingers more freely so the ornaments don’t take over the melody.
